Have to say that it is fantastic offer. My better half (Gold) also got the offer. However we just could not spend $7500 on credit card in first 3 months. I just could not see it happening in our household.

Paypal is considered as retail purchasing. So send $7500 as a gift to your wife/other and then pay back your account using the bank account.

You will pay 2.4% in fees, but its completely legit :P

HAH! I love it .. good way to top up to $7.5k if you're not otherwise going to make it :p

Does anyone know how easy it is to book those flights?
Buy a Virgin Australia domestic seat and we'll give you a complimentary seat[SUP]8[/SUP] on the same flight up to 4 times every year! Just cover the credit card booking fees. Flights subject to availability, conditions apply

Thanks.

Just letting you guys know that the "APPLY" buttons on the following pages all lead to the same URL so I suspect they will give you the appropriate offer (ie. 50, 100 or 200 SC) once you link your Velocity number to the card...

FWIW and IME very easy.

Vigin / Citi rejected an application I made 12mths ago - Cruiserette had hers approved.

We have booked PE MEL-BNE-VLI (Vanuatu) Dec 26-Jan 1.

I made the booking on Cruiserettes card like 2 months ago - was plenty availability - and I think she saved $1,400 by using the 'buy one get one free' offer - great value for the annual cost of the card.

Previously the rules are quite strict and not all flights are available for this (need class R availability) but my last redemption it seems that they relaxed this rule, I managed to book BOGOF on higher fares last month.

Even without the 50K bonus it is still fantastic card if the BOGOF offer. The 50K takes the cake. Almost wish that I have not applied earlier this year.

I don't know how much Virgin is losing on this but they are treating the high spenders well ATM.

Am I the only guy who received the Foxtel 30,000 bonus points sign on offer overnight?

Bummer - changed from Optus to Foxtel 6 weeks ago - but I am going to call Foxtel and try it on.

Pretty nice deal - they rejected me for a card last month though so i'm probably out of luck

Not sure who this deal is available to but try going here :

I just applied for the standard card. 50K Velocity pts + 200 SCs for $99 and $7500 spend in 3 months was irresistable :)

Re: 50000 and 100 Status Credits for getting Virgin Money Card

I have also applied for it as well.

200sc's are to good to pass up and also 50 000 points as well.

Once i get the $7500 spent I will cancel the card.

How did you guys get 200 SC? Mine says 100? Is that because I'm Gold and you're platinum?

Re: 50000 and 100 Status Credits for getting Virgin Money Card

My understanding is

Silver got offered 50 SC

Gold 100 SC

Plat 200 SC

Does that make sense

I'm Silver and got the offer for 50000 + 50 SC's but I'll qualify for Gold after a couple of flights today. Wondering if it's worth my while to hold off and see if I can convince them to make me the Gold offer for the extra 50 SC's.
If I was you I would use the link that oz_mark posted that is appropriate for Gold.

After deciding to make the switch from QF to VA, I applied for the card 2 months ago to maximize my points.... so no 50,000 for me. :(

I did however pick up 20,000 bonus points at that time.... think I need to sign up to Foxtel to make up the extra 30,000!

I wonder if any red members have tried this???

I haven't tried it, but I did receive an e-mail offering double points on purchases for 3 months and 0% for 6 months (no points or status credits, which would have been nice!), so I suspect that no matter what you apply for, you will only receive the offer applicable to your status.

Funny I got the offer as a status matched gold but mrsdrron as a status match plat didnt. She did get the foxtel email plus a virgin amex offer.
Will try to put her velocity number into my link I guess.
