I'd be interested to hear from people that sign up for this offer.
I got a Virgin High Flyer credit card purely to earn Velocity Rewards points a few months ago.

It took about 3 weeks after numerous phone calls from them (essentiall citibank) and me to chase the application, and they asked me how much credit limit I wanted (apparently they allow up to $30,000 pm credit limit), I asked for $25,000 ... and they only gave me $9,000 per month. the worst thing is you can't ask for an increased credit limit within 9 months of initial application. Obviously everyone's financial situation is different but on a high income (over $900,000 p.a) - I don't know if it's done intentionally - but $9,000 limit for a platinum card is pretty conservative.

Well on that basis they aren't going to offer me a lot!

There must be other factors at play, as I earn nowhere near that, but my limit is larger than $9000.

They only game a 9K limit as well.

I am self employed so i guessed that could have been why...

I am not stressed about only 9K as I will top it up and pay bills with it anyway.

My other card has a $25K limit and i have to top that up pretty often anyway.

End of month today but all my big bills have been paid but will probably still spend app 3K today and next week will crack the $7500 mark.

Non of my suppliers except Amex.

And my biggest bill every month only accepts DD or bank cheque.

Probably a certain limit of exposure to each client (i.e. diversification of risk), or the debt/equity ratio of the applicant etc.

Yes maybe because I'm self employed. It's a shame having to keep topping it up rather than be able to take advantage of the "interest free days"

Just wondering if anyone has successfully applied via the link who did not receive the email?

It was a bit painful, but got there in the end:

Congratulations.

Your application for a VIRGIN FLYER credit card has been approved, and you now have a credit limit
of $XX,000.

It was a bit painful, but got there in the end:

I guess the implied question there was did you also get confirmation of the offer re bonus points and SCs attached to the email offer / landing page?

Gee you get a lot of pieces of mail with this card!
1. Card package in a large envelope, with T&Cs
2. Internet Access Number
3. Telephone PIN
4. Internet PIN
5. ATM PIN

They really seem to think that by sending it in different envelopes it's less likely to be intercepted.

I just got home and 4 envelopes have not checked what they have in them actually.

I called Virgin Money and they can confirm the bonus points but have no idea what status credits are.

Anyone received any word from Virgin Australia about how to confirm the offer if you had partner offer emails disabled? Seems like quite an annoying thing to discover doesn't apply at the other end.

Virgin Money/Citibank are the most painful financial institution I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with.

My application has been sitting in 'conditionally approved' since last week, pending verification of my employment. That was completed on Monday (and a call to them yesterday confirmed that). Now that's done, they've said another 5-7 working days for approval?

Citibank. Making simple things complicated since 1812!

(I should note that my pain with Citibank has been felt in the past by another CC with them, and the fact my father applied for a card with them, was approved, and then sent a card with a stupidly high credit limit, to his misspelled name, which was echoed on the card too; it was cut in half and sent back to them with a note politely telling them where they could put it!).

try 2.5 months for citibank... they are pathetic!!!

ive given up, after several phone calls back and forth with them changing their mind each and every time i call (almost weekly!!) so over it!

I have had the same problem. On two separate occassions, I could confirm with them the 50,000 bonus points, but they had no idea about the status credits.

MIne too. And every time I call I get told that they will now personally send it through to verifications for final approval, that this is the last step, and that I will receive a letter between 3 to 4 working days. Then I hear the same thing repeated to me the next time I call

I'm beginning to doubt they will award these points and SCs without without any heartache.

Mine is now in the dreaded "conditionally approved" basket.
The call centre staff didn't fill me with confidence :o

Agreed.

On Thursday I had two discussions with them.

The first was me responding to a message that they left. I read out the reference number and was asked if I was Mr xx_X from Queensland Health reporting upon a Mr YYYYY. When I said NO there was confusion.

Eventually they found the correct reference number and we had a very nebulous conversation as the person I was talking to had no idea why I had rung.

Some hours later there was another call (1945) where we covered a whole bunch of ground again for reasons unknown.

They are a bunch of idiots and I have very little faith in their abilities.

Sounds like my experience. Received a message and when I returned the call the reference number was wrong. When I eventually worked past that they wanted to know why I was calling them.

Once I convinced her they called me she went through a few things that were already covered in my application. A couple of days later got another call and was asked much the same questions again!

Received an approval email on Friday so hopefully the card is on the way.

I got no e mail saying it was approved.

I gave them the OK to talk with my accountant and then a few days later the card arrived in the mail.

It was way too easy for me..

I didn't even send the ID in.

Another interesting phone call from the Virgin Money call centre today. Said the number they have been calling at work is a fax machine ( it isn't !!)
Also querying my payslips, tried to explain that my pay is post tax and all of the figures in the left hand column that are salary packaged are also paid into my account as salary. Something got lost in translation I think
Think I'm in for a long wait

Welcome to the club PF - it's a long hard road.

Because my 2010 / 2011 Tax Assesment not completed they wanted copies of last 3 months bank statements - sent to them on Nov 23 - resent to them on Dec 1 - still waiting to hear back.

But I am a patient man - these 2 4 1 flights are delicious if you spend wisely - and the 50,00pts to boot.

Hell I can sustain extensive periods of substantial aggravation and complication - I am married.
:p

Pulling my hair out. My +1 applied a few days after me (actually I helped her to apply:shock:), they rang her next day and asked for some details, NEVER rang her work, and the card was approved 2 days later.

Anyway, I noticed my application went from conditionally approved to cancelled last week:oops::evil::shock:. Taking it as a rejection, I basically said "Forget it (actually another word that starts with F)" and didn't even bother calling them again! Today, I get a snail mail saying they want to talk to me but can't get hold of me and would like me to call them back...not sure if I really want to waste more of my time with these bunch of (insert whatever adjective you like here!)
