Another interesting phone call from the Virgin Money call centre today. Said the number they have been calling at work is a fax machine ( it isn't !!)
Also querying my payslips, tried to explain that my pay is post tax and all of the figures in the left hand column that are salary packaged are also paid into my account as salary. Something got lost in translation I think
Think I'm in for a long wait

They managed to interpret my salary sacrifice figures OK. Got a congrats email from them today. :D Perhaps your educated them proper like.

Looking forward to 2 4 1 seats. Thinking of using them for extra space or something.

Their customer service seems awful so far, I'm not looking forward to being a customer of them at this rate... Assuming I am approved - hopefully I can make full use of the benefits without having to deal with them again!

I too applied on the first day it was advertised. Was called 2 days afterwards and I sent some additional information. I remain "conditionally approved". I called them today to see what was happening. They said I didnt need to send anything else but needed to ring another number during business hours.

Quite frankly the opportunity cost involved in chasing this is not even worth the effort. I could almost earn the status credits and points by buying tickets from the money earn't in the time I need to scan / fax / be on hold / call back again etc blah blah.

My husband and friend got the email

I am not sure If I got it as I dump lots of stuff about virgin

has anyone else been approved on someone elses link?
I dont need another credit card but the

Declined! Despite having plat charge and edge, hsbc premium account and m/card and earning 4 times the required amount! Jokers

Well, just activated my card. Time will tell how much pain will be required to follow up the bonus points and SCs.

I just got my approval today.

I'm wondering if you have enabled family pooling will the main account get the points (and status credits) instead?

thats probably why e.g. your total credit card limit may have been the turn off? as discussed in other threads?

Totally hopeless, couldn't organise a p!ss up in a brewery.
I have made several phone calls to the overseas call centre. On each occasion my call is apparently being escalated to a higher team. Basically they have all my details but have not / cannot get in touch with my employer ( work for a large organization with more than 10,000 employees).
Think I'll give up and withdraw my application, the customer service is woeful so far even if delivered in a smiley, polite manner by the various call centre staff.

Wait until you actually get the card (if you do) and try and activate it. By the time they'd finished trying to sell me insurance and all the other carry on the call had lasted 15 minutes and I was getting quite grumpy. After the debacle trying to cancel my last citibank card, I'm fairly certain this is the last time I'll ever have anything to do with a citibank issued product (and I'm not looking forward to the call in 6 months time to cancel this one either!).

I told them I'd read the PDS and wasn't interested in hearing about the insurance, but I still got the schpiel. I feel sorry for the call centre staff having to spout the script, but damn it's irritating.

On the other hand, no one had any idea about the sign up bonuses / SCs again - they would have to refer me to another department, who themselves didn't know anything. Am documenting it all in preparation for the inevitable 'he said she said' to come.

I asked for confirmation that I was eligible for the 50,000 points as per the e-mail (which I didn't receive, but I did apply through the appropriate link thanks to a friend) and the agent went offline for about 30 second before coming back and saying that my application was received on 29 November - which is after 22 November - so I was definitely enrolled for the 50,000 bonus points after spending $7500. A little less certain than I would have liked given the apparent 'targetted' nature of the offer (I'd have preferred something along the lines of "it says on your account here that you will receive 50,000 points and xx_ SCs after you spend $7500" rather than "if all the rules are applied correctly you're in!") but I figured it was close enough.

I must be a bit of a weirdo, but I find Filipino call centres to be oddly charming, given the mix of a mild Asian accent and formal American politeness in the spoken English of most that I talk to. At least up until the point that I want do something that their script doesn't cover - that almost always ends in tears!

It is now 12 days since I last heard from these people.

It really is a joke from where I'm sitting.
I am not sure if that is good or bad - I have been asked for the identical information 3 times in last 3 weeks - which is best - not hearing or hearing same request over and over?

They are a little unusual. I received a request for identity and income information on three occations (I couldn't be bothered until to today) and every time it was slightly different. Licence and payslip. then Call employer and medicare card. and then something else. In the end they called to say they'd verified my income with my employer - I asked "Did they just give you that info" and they said yes! I can't believe my employer gave that info without asking me!

Anyway they approved in 10 mins later by email.... so maybe it depends on the person dealing with your "case".

In my case, when I applied for a Citibank card earlier this year, they contacted my payroll section and simply asked for confirmation of the information that I had already supplied in the application. Payroll didn't actually provide any new information, but just confirmed the details that I had already provided to Citibank.

Just received call from Virgin Money - application is ok'ed with credit limit 6K which is minumum allowed.

Guy who called me told me he could see in system I was going to receive 50K bonus pts but he had no idea about status credits - said I best talk to Virgin

I was approved today after having to go to the post office and do a electronic identity check. Will wait and see what gives with the points.

Got a call yesterday arvo from this mob, previous only
contact was a call 2 weeks ago, that caller said all was good
and the application would be approved.

Yesterday advised them I dont want the card, waiting 2 weeks

Great Customer Service Virgin Money? Not.

Did they mention that in the initial email / online response or in a follow up call?

Seems like everyone is getting different verification processes...
