I rang the consumer cardmembers line, and they assisted. In short, if you already have an AMEX issued by a BANK, you cannot tick/include those details on the form. If you do, the form will break. I was accepted within less than a minute with a text message and on screen confirm.

I have the ability to give my card the hiding it deserves but at 0.5 PPD it will take some time to get it to 250k.
I'm going to transfer to SQ and build on my Citi points. Suites are in my sights.

For the 'purchases' earning 0.5PPD you may want to look at the AMEX Velocity Escape Card. It says it earns 1PPD for 'all other purchases'. $0 annual fee. It may cover what you need but always check with AMEX before applying.

It is also worth considering the NAB Platinum Amex/Visa combo, which if you spend on the amex is 1.5pts per $ for everything. I am earning 10-15K pts per month from the credit card alone. NAB is awful, but the points are amazing.

I only got this one so I can get 3 pts /$ for booking Virgin flights and for the bonus points.

Another positive news! After getting the card via burmans link last week, I have received the card early this week, and have got 110K registered after my few spending this week.

So yes the points comes thick and fast (in less than a week of applying)!

Another interesting thing is that with Velocity Krisflyer alliance, you can convert 110000 Velocity miles to 81481 Krisflyer miles, which allows you to fly from Australia 1 way Business to Europe, or 1 way A380 Suite class to Hong Kong or Tokyo via Singapore.

What an easy and awesome way to score yourself a trip on Business or First/Suites class on Singapore Airlines, one of the best in the world!

It's always only been domestic flights.

I dont think PER-MEL has been offered for some years?

Could kick myself now after reading all those that received the bonus despite having a other Amex cards, I received mine but called up to ensure that I would receive the bonus after the spend and was told I was not eligible because of my David Jones Amex - so told them to cancel the card, I suppose its always a risk but well done to those that received the bonus

Well I got my card using a referral link . Just checked and 80,000 points have been posted at my $500 spend mark. I used the card over the weekend and am well over the $1000 spend now, but neither the charges nor the extra 30,000 points have appeared. I'm going to wait until the extra charges post and see what happens ...
