Virgin Australia Business Class - Meals, Menus & Service

This was a 10am departure out of OOL to SYD a few days ago. I'm not sure if I have flown at that time recently but would call it morning tea rather than a light lunch or lunch for that matter.

Toasted banana bread with ricotta and berries. Pretty good feed for mid morning.

10am flight ... 11 am sydney time. You would land at about12.30 by the time you get to your destination you’ve issued lunch. Pfff

Virgin Australia Business Class Catering

Hi All,

Does any one have access to any information regarding what Virgin Australia serves on different sectors across their Business Class network? I heard earlier on in the year that there is a booklet containing meal choices and what is served on specific flights e.g. (Snack, Meal, 3 Course Meal)

Thank You,

Bradley :D

Their 737 Business class product is starting to look like a poor value option. Bring your own entertainment screens, Economy class meal portions, what next? The infamous USA style cane basket full of salty sugary snacks and token bananas?

I’m just surprised they keep shaving costs and offerings of their premium cabin? It’s really been the main focus of their cost cutting drive. Maybe it was really a big problem for them?

Yep it does make you wonder, perhaps they will eventually make it just Economy plus on the 737 and the A330/777 will carry the business class product.

"provided in response to customer feedback"...
Yeah, sure Virgin. Prove it.
I know that I’ve had flights where I’ve wanted something small like cheese and biscuits (usually on the back of an international long haul), but they only have the extremes of a full meal or a bowl of misery chips. Perhaps our feedback asking for options has been misinterpreted (deliberately or otherwise)

Most flights have two meal options available. If people have in fact been requesting a lighter lunch option (and I'd like to know who these people are - I suspect they're the same frequent flyers that call Qantas' Boeing 787 business class "mini First"), why not offer one light and one full meal option and give passengers the choice?

And seriously, how is removing bread rolls "providing more choice"? If somebody doesn't want the bread, they don't have to take it.

I'd like to see their Gate Gourmet bill...fortune. And most of it probably on unnecessary snacks for economy (in my opinion).

I reckon they'd be better off giving no snack, but a free first non-alcoholic drink of choice.

Defintely significant downgrade in quality in last 12 mths in business class..
Reality is people are just buying economy x domesticly now ...you have enough room.
food non existent ..hate those protein balls in the morning and rubbish coffee.

Those protein balls are the worst. Why can’t they do simple delicious snacks?

baba ganoush with feta and pomegranate and flatbread for a 9.30pm short flight. The people opposite me weren’t hungry and were offered cheese and biscuits. I’d already ordered and suddenly had FOMO and was tempted to ask for cheese and biscuits instead. But happily they gave me both without asking. The other option was bolognese arancini balls. The guy behind me kept asking for more snacks and took advantage of the free food. I thought they’d got rid of that perk, but it appears not.

I flew SYD-HKG yesterday and thought the Barramundi with lemongrass was absolutely excellent. Had to laugh about 30 mins from landing, the CSM came by and said "oh, I haven't said hello to you yet, how are you?". I'm thinking "who cares whether you say hello or not? Clearly not you". This CSM greeting thing is a joke, just give it up already.

I hate the CSM “greeting” to be honest. Pointless and in many cases it’s just painful.
I actually quite like it. Not for the dykwia, but if it's early enough in the flight it just seems to set a nice tone for me. Perhaps it's because I semi-expect it, as it seems to happen so often? And I wonder where it is when it doesn't happen?

If you're in Y, it's a lot lot more beneficial than J. Most time in VA the crew come to ask my meal preference to ensure I do not miss out. Also happened on EY a couple of times.
