Virgin Australia Business Class - Meals, Menus & Service

DRW-SYD VA1354 1330-1930 (4.5hr flight time)

Quite a lovely Chicken Peanut Satay with Eggplant. Alternate was a Soba Noodles. Side dishes of cheese, crackers and quince paste and the cake - all on the single tray above.
Also served choice of sourdough or soy&linseed.
So the catering downgrade hasn't hit these longer flights

6/8 in the cabin and good service throughout. Front toilet was broken.

I'd flown up economy on VA1351 SYD-DRW 0940-1240, and all you got was a small granola bar and tiny yoghurt (imported from Europe) which I though was pretty poor for such a long flight.

No internet on either flight.

Or, "Who can dress the humble Chick Sandwich up". Bonus points if you bring an accompaniment like corriander ect from the lounge

Oh yes- that's so good- I'm thinking dressed noodles with Asian sauce swirling around the sandwich perimeter. The fusion of lounge and 737 business- a new concept for the master chef- " Tarmac pool"

I had almost exactly this, MEL-SYD VA0877 last Friday evening. Again, the alternate was soba noodles with optional prawns, but they mentioned miso mayo and I hate mayo so I got the satay. It had the same crackers and a very similar fruit paste (fig/almond, I think?), and a different cake but the same brand/packaging.

The satay was moderately tasty but the texture and appearance were consistent with "just reheated in a plane galley".

I had had a similarish turmeric-coconut chicken curry in the MEL Lounge before departure, which I quite enjoyed.

Seems as though they like using the Chicken satay / soba noodles options.
I travelled BNE > MEL today on the 17:55 flight.

I reluctantly upgraded myself via Upgrade Me wishing to give Virgin a second chance after a less than memorable experience first time travelling Virgin Business sometime ago. Can't remember what the issues were but had me thinking I wasn't going to upgrade again.

Anyways.. the staff, greeting, pleasantness, pre-flight drinks, absolutely no problem at all, I was coming around starting to like the product again. Then it all went downhill :( . 2hr 10 min flight and our food and drinks was served at 80mins in. The delay was not all of it was the crew fault. At first, the cabin Manager and another crew having a very long chit chat in the front galley while the CM was getting service ready, work related chit chat I do not know.

The economy cabin got their food and drinks first, half way down, up come crew to talk to CM taking her off her service preparation, when CM goes up to Economy. She was talking to a passenger for maybe 15 minutes. If I overheard CM talking to a Row 1 passenger correctly, coffee was accidentally spilt on the passenger. Medical crew waiting at the gate on our arrival. Hope the passenger was okay.

Once that was sorted, here comes the turbulence. Seat belt sign on for about 10 minutes. Once food was out, drinks were replenished as much as possible.

I feel as though food wouldn't have been delayed as long as it was if it wasn't for the long duration chit chat at the beginning of the flight.

I'm not sure if I'll try Business again, maybe third time a charm?

VA1036 - Mcy - Mel Live

quiche Lorraine for me and cos and pear salad for husby. Quiche was nice enough, but soggy but ok. Problem was it wasn’t filling enough for lunch and not having had a lounge in MCY couldn’t fill up beforehand :o/
