Virgin Australia Business Class - Meals, Menus & Service

Live from VA838. It was this or the infamous finger sandwiches. Presented as a "light lunch". Light it was!

VAs version of a fancy lunch, the humble chicken & mayo sandwich.

Expected turbulence kept the seatbelt sign on for quite a while after take off. Not sure if it was because of that or the fact some crew connected late from inbound flights but the service was slow to get going. They were very polite so I can't fault them for that, kept drinks topped up etc but didn't get the first course until over the border and in to Western Australia!

Sadly I've had this menu before, but went for a different starter and had the smoked salmon. I'm normally not a seafood person (certainly not the cold variety anyway) but I really loved the salmon. It tasted very very fresh, and even though I'm not a fan of pistachio the bed of that with quinoa it sat on was also quite delicious. Map for reference!

Lamb with mushrooms & papardelle. I have had this one before and there's not much wrong with it, but my personal tastes have me leaning toward a tomato ragu rather that one with mushroom.

Sour Cherry brownie for desert.

Hubbys noon flight cancelled and he was moved to VA842, 1pm Syd to Melb.

Told him to take meal pic and he said it was the enhanced Chiicken Sandwich so "no point taking photos".

Hubby Melb-Sydney flight and he said lamb pies but they look like empanadas to me

But what with the cheese offering - use to be 3 types and now its down to one

3 pies! One lamb, one beef, one cheese tart.... one piece of cheese on the side plate served with some quince.

All this washed down with a glass of shiraz.

This was on an OOL to SYD evening service.

No enhanced chicken sandwich yet. I'm dying to try it.

Ahh yes. I forgot as it was hidden behind the crackers.

A large piece of shortbread was in he little cereal bowl. It went everywhere while I was eating it 🤣

Maybe gold gets the mince/lamb pies and platinum gets the free range chicken and poor old red gets the sausage tolls

This was economy (no biz available) Kalgoorlie to Perth yesterday 20th Feb, snack provided was hummus use by date (not best before) was 6 days passed! The chicken sandwich doesn't look so bad now

That is definitely not accepted. They cannot serve that , did you bring this to FA’s attention ?

I did not, had a look around and nobody seemed to say anything and like all good poms I suffered in silence - 1 hour flight so wasn't too bothered really.
