Virgin Australia Business Class - Meals, Menus & Service

So after a few VA business class flights to NZ, comparing the catering to a friend's trip on QF yesterday it seems that QF caters the route more as an international flight yet VA considers it domestic. VA in my experience is the usual domestic meal on a tray plus a bowl of nuts or olives. QF offer true champagne, multiple courses and enhanced wines. Anyone else notice this? Assume it's reflective of VA's cheaper fares.

Work trip to from ADL-MEL on VA206 at 0635 this morning. I was the only J pax so had staff fawning over me. Breakfast was the choice of the Tortilla with prosciutto and egg or the Granola with yoghurt and fruit. As I don’t eat egg the choice was simple. Very nice breakfast and the strawberries especially tasted like they were picked today. Can’t fault the meal or service at all and staff were very chatty (maybe through boredom) :D
Only thing to let the flight down was MEL being chockers and having to wait 15 minutes for a free gate.

MEL-OOL an hour later had a full J cabin with the same offerings but I was still quite full so just had some kettle chips and a couple of glasses of bubbly

Anyone know if VA is able to cater 'special meals' in J on domestic flights? I'm going to be doing SYD-MEL in J in a few months and I'm allergic to wheat so the chicken sandwich is totally not an option. I can't find anywhere to set it online though and I seem to remember last time I flew long haul with them I had to call up to do it.
I'm not too fussed if they can't, it's a very short flight I can just grab a snack in the lounge before I depart but would be interested to hear what sort of catering others with special requirements may have gotten.

I haven’t had the Satay’s for months and was worried they had been removed from the menu. Good to see they are still around as they are my favourite

A couple of recent breakfast options.
Zucchini fritter with halloumi and bacon. It wasn’t really a success- fritter was ‘glaggy’ and the halloumi tough and dry.

Poached pear with coconut yoghurt was much nicer.

VA875 Mel to Syd 1800. Beef massaman curry, hubby had that. I had chips and nuts. Apparently it was nice but not very spicy and there didn’t appear too much sauce, but I think very reasonable for a 1hour flight!E12630EE-B441-4A71-9B25-2C516A74217D.jpeg

Also. There was a gentleman in 2D who was very specific about what he wanted and didn’t sound over pleased about the time it took to serve the refreshments. If that was you. I’m in awe, very brave!!

Afternoon service (4pm) Melbourne to Sydney

I think I've posted these before as I've had them a few times now. Trio of pastries they named this dish. Overall pretty good. The alternate meal was avocado smash with corn chips.

Many at this time of day in the J cabin had snacks not the full meal option which is understandable. I'll never pass up a dogs eye!
