Virgin Australia Business Class - Meals, Menus & Service

Re: The totally off-topic thread

^ yeah, all 737s have ovens up the front. The -700s don't have the 2-sided galley installed yet thought.

It's the damn galley space on the 737's which causes so many problems. Same with the E190's. There is no oven up the front, so crew have to go to the rear of the plane to collect meals. Stupid.....

Ironically E90 has more space in the Foward galley than the 73H and 73W

E90 - 2half trolleys+3full trolleys
73H - 5half trolleys
73W - 2half trolleys

Every coast to coast A330 is a full meal service in J isn't it?

In that case...I am going to take a 1730 out from PER, but the return is my choice - 1300 or 1730 departure from MEL.

Any difference between the two that I should be aware of or would sway my decision? I'm not fussed. It's a Saturday flight fwiw.

CSM on my flight today said all the CSMs got an email on Friday saying the snack services where being removed and its going to be simply breakfast lunch and dinner on all services...guess we'll be waiting to see on that, but he specifically bought the subject up with me and what I thought of the snack services which I said were sub standard for J class and he told me of the upcoming changes based on the significant feedback given...

Eh I quite liked the Idea of the cheese platter, just not the one being offered. But this is definitely good news!

Did he give a timeframe as to when this will be happening?

Not all snack services are being removed. The matrix is as follows:
First flt to 0829 - Breakfast
0830 - 1159 - Morning Snack
1200 - 1359 - Lunch
1400 - 1759 -Afternoon Snack
1800 - Last flt -Dinner

Only the Evening snack is being removed. All "Business Long" flt's which are your coast to coast, are Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner only services.
And the next menu change for A330 is on Wed 15th.

Running dinner till last flight is great, refreshments after 8PM are not great elsewhere in red land.

markis10, totally agree, most people flying at that time of night have had long days, prob with not much chance to eat. By that time of night the food in the lounge is somewhat. . . . .ummm.. tired!
So it is often heard "that groan" as the cheese plate was presented!

Not a fan of tired hot dogs ? ;)

If there are still any post 11pm services then no - they are a supper service ...

Wasn't sure on those late ones, good to know for the future! Thanks for the information serfty - I had a feeling you'd be the one answering my question :P

What was a cheap 14 hours in MEL on JQ has turned in to a 2 night trip to try VA J...hehe :). Now just to wait for the call centre to open tomorrow morning...

On a Friday night flight I was not offered a choice but was simply served up a VERY nice chicken mushroom dish with diced potato!

Was one of the best chicken dishes I had eaten! Not sure why I wasn't given a choice of food though....

Only 2 seats in J taken again....

Oh and the per-departure drink was already sitting on the armrest as well. It wasn't the mocktail or water, but was a juice, not orange.. Memory fades me but it was like a breakfast type (mixed) juice..

Was the first time I was simply served up the drink and meal without being asked.....
