Afternoon Snack Flight Coolangatta to Melbourne

It comprised a small "Mushroom Risotto Cake" with a salsa and a dessert (pannacotta?). The salsa was rather pureed and while mild it was still a bit overpowering for the Risotto, which was quite nice in it's own right. :D

That's what I had on Monday afternoon!

I enjoyed it.

I must confess..... I also had a sandwich, as I was famished.

Re: The totally off-topic thread

...How many red and white wines are offered on QF and VA international J?
VA to lax in Y has two whites and two reds. Y+ I think had three whites, didn't take much notice of the reds.

Re: The totally off-topic thread

I think they could do the snacks alot better, three weeks ago I flew similar timings on QF J SYD-ADL 737-400 and for refreshment we got the choice of a Tapas plate or (which I chose) a bowl of delicious Mushroom Soup, warm bread and a salad. The QF snack killed DJ's hands down on quality and presentation....

I agree, but I must admit that at a 35% lower sticker price ($874 vs $559), based on what I see here, the DJ offering would do the job for me given they seem to be able to make most other aspects of the J class service work well.

However it would be incredibly helpful if they were able to state the type of service for the flight (snack vs lunch) at the time of booking. Perhaps that's in the "when they move to Sabre" basket.

SYD-DRW 0940. Load 2/8 in J.

IMG_0942.jpg
After flight take off - nuts and juice.
IMG_0944.jpg
Creamy sweetcorn soup - tasted nice but I think the bread roll was warmer than the soup itself... I like my soup warm :)
IMG_0945.jpg
2 choices of mains - Spiced Moroccan Lamb or some salad thingy which the FA seemed a bit embarrassed to be offering. Was quite nice.
Some glazed orange pudding, very forgettable.
IMG_0946.jpg
Raspberry and Rhubarb Icecream sandwich served with the second meal service ~2hrs into flight.
Where do I start ... amazing. Looked at the FA funny when we didn't get cutlery but soft and wasnt required and very tasty. Would have definitely loved seconds!

A note - had a connecting flight from a 737-700 which was selling J but ended up being a rogue craft. Bit disappointing, would have thought they would have waited until all the J was out before selling it on the 700s..... Apologised on boarding and given me all of Row 1, A-C (should have taken D-F, no seat pocket and live to air available on all rows but mine and absolutely freezing from the open door whilst waiting for the delayed departure). Understand there was no J service but would have been nice to perhaps have some acknowledgement from crew after boarding. Served flexis first, didn't get round to doing BOB service for a quite while later where it was a simple 'anything to eat or drink'. Didn't really feel like they tried to offer more than just Y service.

PS: Salmon Fishing in Yemen (on the digiplayer) is quite a good movie.

Re: The totally off-topic thread

There it is again the bakers delight scroll that I have been served up a few times in J. The bakers delight one looks better and costs no more than $3 and I didn't even get the bonus cheese which is clearly the Y product on a plate.

Was this just handed to you like this ??

Re: The totally off-topic thread

Not acceptable at all!

The F/A should have spent an extra 5 seconds per person and put that on a plate

Breakfast CBR-MEL
Choice of Ricotta Pancakes or Breakfast Wrap, I chose the wrap. Full of mushrooms (my least favourite food item) all food and bev served from galley not trolley. Load 4/8. 2 Crew serving J.

Lunch MEL-CNS
Mock-tail served as soon as I am seated. After takeoff warm nuts and drink served and IPad handed to me with the options for lunch. Seafood Curry or Spinach Pie. Choose the Pie and was full of mushrooms to my disappointment. Meal served from trolley. Load 1/8. 1 Crew member serving J. 40 mins prior to landing snack offers. Choice of Pie or Ice-cream sandwich. Choose the sandwich which was rock hard but after a 10mins was perfect and tasted delicious.

Thanks for the shots loobloke, im doing the same run in three weeks and wondered if we'd get a three course service.

Re: The totally off-topic thread

Flew SYD to MEL this morning on the A332 (with the lie-flat J class) and was served a morning refreshment which consisted of Quiche Lorraine with a side of salsa and fruit salad (together with an OJ and sparkling water). Thankfully it wasn't that toasted ham and cheese croissant that I was expecting (judging from the various posts above).

DJ830 SYD-MEL refreshment.JPG

J had a load of 9/24. I was also served the mock-tail before take off which was good and had an English Breakfast after the refreshment which was also good. The quiche was a bit bland (thankfully the salsa made up for that) and the fruit salad tasty.

Whilst some members of crew were a bit rusty in their explanation of the service available on the flight, I can sense that the crew was sincere and warm to everyone. A solid J product on the A330.

Re: The totally off-topic thread

It's the damn galley space on the 737's which causes so many problems. Same with the E190's. There is no oven up the front, so crew have to go to the rear of the plane to collect meals. Stupid.....

I have had hot food come from the front galley on 737's without anything coming from the rear galley
