Virgin Australia Delays/Cancellations

VA1576 (DRW-ASP-ADL) and the return VA1741 service (ADL-ASP-DRW) both cancelled today. The aircraft, VH-FZH, remained in DRW after arriving there about 3 hours late last night as yesterday’s VA1741. This northbound service is formed on Tuesday afternoons by a F100 which flies PER-ADL earlier that day, and any delays just compound...

VA916 (Monday 30 April 2018, the 0700 hours BNE down to SYD, B738 VH-YFE) took off at 0754 so arrival is likely at about 0916 hours, 41 minutes late.

The 0655 hours BNE down to MEL, VA308 (VH-VUC) was in the sky at about 0811 hours so it should be at its southern destination gate at roughly 1018 hours, 58 late.

Northbound VA813 (0715 hours MEL - SYD) took off at 0758, so arrival is likely at 0912, 32 late for VH-YFC.

VA211, the 0705 hours MEL across to ADL was not airborne until 0828. B738 VH-YFL should be at its destination gate at 0905, 65 minutes tardy.

The 0630 hours early morning from OOL down to MEL took off at 0720. VH-YFS looks to be arriving at about 0926 hours, 31 late.

VA816 (0800 hours SYD - MEL that was airborne at 0857, VH-VOQ) should pull in to its designated MEL gate at 1018 hours, 43 minutes behind time.

VA159, the early evening 1810- hours BNE across to AKL that was in the sky at 1921 with B738 VH-YIW should arrive at least 50 minutes late.

Ongoing disruption on the VA ‘Central Australian shuttle’ with F100 VH-FNU remaining on the ground in ADL since it’s arrival at 1119 ACST this morning as VA1576. This has resulted in the cancellation of this afternoons VA1741 ADL-ASP-DRW. Interestingly, tomorrow mornings scheduled VA1576 ex-DRW is still showing as ‘on time’ on the VA website, although FR24 has the aircraft positioning to ASP as VA9545 to form a truncated VA1576

B773ER VH-VPE on the 1135 hours MEL - LAX, VA23, is badly late on Wednesday 3 May 2018, having taken off at 1503, LAX arrival should be 191 late at 1211 according to FR24. Sometimes it overestimates delays though.

This B773ER had arrived from LAX in MEL on VA24 26 minutes early this morning at 0519 hours, so no standout reason for the long delay.

Friday 4 May sees VA875 (1800 hours MEL up to SYD that was airborne at 1908, B738 VH-YIA) suggested as arriving at about 2010, 45 minutes late. Quite a bit of late running is occurring on this route.

VA233 (1635 hours late afternoon MEL - ADL, Sunday 6 May 2018, B738 VH-YVD) was airborne at 1730. Suggested arrival is 1812 hours, 42 minutes late.

The 1700 hours from CBR down to MEL, VA278 (B738 VH-YFZ) took off at 1750. Arrival should be at 1844 hours, 34 minutes late.

The first of the morning VA ADL - MEL at a scheduled 0605 hours on Monday 7 May 2018, VA204, took off at 0647 with B738 VH-YWA. Arrival from the south should be at 0831 hours, 36 minutes tardy.

Continuing with Monday 7 May, VA208 (B738 VH-VUW, the 0735 hours morning ADL across to MEL that was in the sky at 0813) is arriving at 0957 hours, 32 minutes behind the eight ball.

VA812, 0730 hours SYD down to MEL that did not become airborne until 0841 (VH-VON) should arrive at roughly 1003, 58 minutes late.

The 0620 hours CBR - MEL (VA252, B738 VH-VOT) did not become airborne until 0756. Its Wednesday 9 May 2018 arrival should be at approximately 0852 hours, 82 late.

Wednesday 9 May 2018's VA1487, the mid afternoon 1510 hours PEr up to BME (F100 VH-FWH) took off at 1704, so anticipated arrival has become 98 late at 1923 hours.

On a very wintry but strictly autumnal Thursday 10 May 2018 in Melbourne, the 1715 hours from it to SYD (B738 VH-VUL, VA869) took off at 1819. Arrival should be exactly an hour late at 1940 hours.

Received thi slate today about my SYD-ADL-SYD journey tomorrow.

Strong westerly winds forecast today for SYD (270 degrees at 22kts gusting up to 35kts). This is basically all crosswind on the parallels so looks likely that operations may go to single runway if the forecast winds eventuate. There is also forcecast moderate to severe turbulence below 5000ft so expect a few bumps in the circuit area.

On Friday 11 May with earlier rain in MEL and gusty winds in both it and SYD, VA853 (1500 hours MEL up to SYD, B738 VH-VUF) took off at about 1602 so arrival in the mainland harbour city is predicted as 1716 hours, 51 minutes behind schedule.

VA332 (1355 hours BNE down to MEL that took off less than 10 minutes late at 1418 with B738 Vh-VOK) is arriving at 1652, 32 minutes late, showing on a day with adverse weather how further time can be lost on the schedule.

The LST - MEL VA1371 is worse with this 1455 hours scheduled departure having taken off at 1543. Arrival of B738 VH-YFK should be at about 1655, an hour late.

The 1600 hours MEL - SYD VA859 has B738 VH-VUR but was well back in the queue for takeoff at 1658 so it will be more than an hour late into SYD, the timetable stating 1725 as the arrival time.

Delays on Friday 11 May may in many cases be to flights in and out of MEL but they are also occurring elsewhere.

VA528 (1505 hours OOL - SYD) took off at 1620 and so should arrive with B738 VH-BZG at about 1727, 52 minutes late. In turn, this means that VA868, the 1715 hours SYD down to MEL will be delayed while the following flight, VA872 (the 1745 hours) has been cancelled.

The 1600 hours MEL - BNE, VA337 took off at 1647 so with B738 VH-VUA, arrival should be at about 1846 hours, 36 minutes late.

Still on Friday 11 May 2018, VA1375 (1700 hours LST up to MEL that was in the sky at 1823 with B738 VH-YWD) looks to be arriving at 1913 hours, 73 late.

Northbound VA869 (VH-YFP, the 1715 hours MEL - SYD took off at roughly 1907, so its arrival is probable at about 2015, 95 minutes behind the schedule.

VA278 (B738 VH-VUI, the 1700 hours peak period CBR down to MEL that did not get into the sky until 1837) is arriving at an estimated 1933 hours this evening, 83 minutes late.

The 1815 hours MEL - PER, VA693 (A332 VH-XFJ) was in the sky at 1934 so arrival is delayed until an expected 2128 hours, 53 minutes late.

VA236 (1705 hours ADL across to MEL with VH-VUL) was airborne at 1835 hours so arrival looks to be about 2011, 76 minutes behind time.

The 1940 hours SYD down to MEL that was airborne at 2137, VA886 with B738 VH-VUV should arrive at 2251 hours, 106 minutes late.

VA878, the 1830 hours southbound is worse with takeoff at 2140 for VH-VUK meaning arrival at gate in MEL at 2258, a terrible 173 minutes late.
