In more on 5 July, VA864 (VH-VOL, the 0900 hours SYD down to MEL airborne at 1051) should arrive at 1206 hours, 91 late.

If its current roster remains, VA739, the 1120 hours MEL - OOL will be delayed by at least 80 minutes but then surprisingly for a Friday, its flight after that is the 1500 hours OOL - MEL VA744 so with a scheduled 90 minutes on the ground in Coolangatta but a normal turnaround taking about 35 minutes, there's an opportunity to recover a fair chunk of the lost time.

VA83 (1000 hours morning SYD up to HKG) is expected to depart at 1145 hours. VA69 (0940 hours MEL up to HKG that was in tjhe sky at 1123) is also delayed with arrival likely at 1832, 72 late for A332 VH-XFD.

The PQQ down to SYD VA1132 (ATR72 VH-FVN) is arriving at 1209 hours, 34 minutes tardy.

Continuing with 5 July 2019, V948 (1005 hours BNE - SYD) took off at 1141 with arrival suggested as 1250 hours, 70 late for B738 VH-YIB.

Later on Friday 5 July 2019, VA328 (B738 VH-VUU, the 1255 hours BNE down to MEL airborne at 1345) is arriving at a suggested 1555 hours, 35 late.

VA740 (1300 hours lunchtime OOL - MEL) is some distance behind. VH-VOP's at gate arrival should be at 1608, 43 minutes behind the timetable.

A332 VH-XFH is on VA551, the 0715 hours SYD - PER but it isn't completely a happy story despite the Airbus being as a widebody vastly superior to a ubiquitous B738 narrowbody. Takeoff was not untilo 1509 this afternoon so arrival in the West's often sunny capital (temperature wise if not always economically speaking) should be at 1756 very late this afternoon, 451 minutes late. This aircraft looks to be next rostered on VA564, teh afternoon 1620 hours PER - SYD that is timetabled to arrive at 2240, not long before curfew kicks in. The latter is not yet displaying as 'cancelled' (on FR24) but it almost certainly is.

VA849 (1400 hours afternoon MEL - SYD) and VA277 (1520 hours MEL - CBR) were cancelled. VA279 (1655 hours MEL - CBR) is predicted to depart half an hour late.

The 1815 hours MEL up to SYD, VA879, should depart at 1900 tonight.

Saturday 6 July sees VA811, the 0700 hours MEL - SYD not taking off until 0904 hours. Arrival at a predicted 1019 hours will be 114 minutes tardy for B738 VH-VUV.

VA815, the 0730 hours on the identical route (VH-VUW) is not a lot better, becoming airborne at 0850 for arrival at gate at 1004 hours, 69 minutes behind time.

VA1751 (VH0-YFV), the 0835 hours MEL - HTI was in the sky at 0952 so arrival is 1234, 49 late.

VA1391 ADL-BNE least 5hrs late today and so VA379 also with big delays (same aircraft). Many other VA flights running late today.

eastwest101, are there multiple causes? Weather looks rather benign around Australia. Saturday morning is always busy and it's school holidays, but Saturday arvo is often with Saturday evening domestically the week's quietest period.

The 1610 hours SYD across to ADL, VA428 (B738 VH-YFC) was airborne at 1738 so arrival is 1901 hours, 71 late.

In more on Saturday 6 July 2019, VA35 (1145 hours SYD - DPS) did not depart until 1920 tonight, 455 minutes late.) VH-YIT is the B738, taking off at 1935 for expected arrival at 2358 very late tonight local time, 448 late.

Sunday 7 July 2019 finds VA914, the 0655 hours BNE down to SYD not airborne until 0839 so arrival for B738 VH-YFJ is 1041, 131 minutes tardy as the aircraft had to initially hold above Scone and subsequently west of Singleton.

There may have been fog in CBR this morning as VA629, the 0705 hours CBR - SYD is among flights running badly late, having taken off at 0953. As at 1047 ATR72 VH-FVZ was holding along with other small aircraft near the Wombeyan Caves so arrival is showing as 1119 hours, 194 minutes behind schedule.

VA924 (0805 hours BNE down to SYD) took off at 0903 hours with arrival for B738 VH-YFH at a suggested 1058, 78 late as the plane held west of Singleton for a while.

The Sydney area has had some fog but it was not calm (wind wise) at SYD so not sure if this is why flights are delayed. Someone who is at the airport may be able to advise.

The 0800 hours ADL across to SYD, VA409 (B738 VH-VUI) took off at 0838 and should be at its allocated arrival gate at 1112 hours, 52 late.

In more on Sunday 7 July, VA1362 (0905 hours MEL - LST) took off at 0932, only about 15 minutes late with B738 VH-VOS. It has been holding south of Longford with an extraordinary number of racecourse-like circuits so arrival has become an estimated 1148, 98 minutes behind schedule. There is wind of 11kmh gusting to 15kmh at LST that one might think would blow any fog away but perhaps not. QF2281 and JQ735 are also circling.

Just boarded VH-VUZ operating VA323 and it's running an hour behind schedule due to late arrival from the hangar...

VA846 (1400 hours SYD - MEL on Sunday 7 July, VH-YVC) took off at 1616 so at gate arrival is anticipated to be 1730 hours, 115 minutes tardy.

VA742 OOL-MEL (B738 VH-YIA) arrived at 17 41, 76 min tardy. The impact on the following leg as VA875 MEL-SYD should be minimal due to a good turnaround.
VA858 SYD-MEL (B738 VH-VOK) has a tentative arrival at 18 34, 59 min behind.
VA1296 CNS-MEL (B738 VH-YFY) has a suggested arrival at 20 58, 58 min late.
VA337 MEL-BNE (B738 VH-VON) has a revised arrival at 19 17, 67 tardy.
VA1628 AYQ-SYD (B738 VH-YFK) also running behind, with arrival at 19 30, 130 min behind schedule.
VA1166 CFS-SYD (B737 VH-VBZ) is anticipated to arrive at 18 51, 86 tardy.
VA144 AKL-SYD (B738 VH-YIO) also joins the delays list, with arrival at 18 53, 68 min late.
VA180 NAN-SYD (B738 VH-YIT) has a revised arrival at 20 20, 110 min behind.
VA1354 DRW-SYD (B738 VH-YFW) with suggested arrival at 21 18, 108 tardy.
VA786 CNS-BNE (B738 VH-YFI) is expected to arrive at 19 45, 60 late.
VA346 BNE-MEL (B738 VH-VUQ) is delayed, with departure now revised to 18 59, 64 behind original schedule.

In a further Sunday 7 July 2019 delay, VA875 (MEL to SYD, the 1800 hours with B738 VH-YIA) was airborne at 1858 so arrival is suggested as 2006 hours, 41 late.

VA870 (VH-VOM) is the 1730 hours SYD - MEL pointing skywards at 1903, so arrival at gate should be 2019 hours, 74 late.

The 1655 hours late afternoon BNE down to MEL, VA342 took off at 1745 so VH-VOS is to be 40 late arriving at 2000 hours.
