Yes, I'd probably have called them already, but I'm mindful that they must be inundated right now with people with bookings impacted by current Melbourne covid situation.

I phoned the Virgin Guest Center this morning ... it appears there is a 2 week waiting period after the review date before they actually approve the Gold status. The agent confirmed I had qualified and that I should get confirmation in about another week, with the card etc being mailed out shortly after that.

May be this is to wait for the SC to be posted for any trips that were made on the day of qualification or a day before?

My review data is 11/06. I'm doing the final qualifying flight on 10/06. I'd assume the person who does the qualification check is given 2 weeks, so that by that 2 week period all pending SC's would flow into the account. Also, if there is any SC transfer from flybuys (?) and it might take longer than usual.

But if you already well exceeded the SC's required it should be an automatic change over but it's not.

Exactly. For example, I completed my qualifying challenge way back in early March!

...this can also cause problems for people, such as the person on here who was a Velocity Platinum member but was denied access to an SQ lounge because their status (which they had easily re-qualified for) was "under review" at the time.

Also, I was pleasantly surprised to see that the status credits earned during the Discover Gold period are still carried over and will make it a lot easier for me to achieve Platinum status.

I finished on 51 SC at 28 May. As with previous challenges I was expecting a drop to silver, but it looks like I've had my challenge renewed for another 5 months and need to earn another 80 SC (have already had 2 SC post from Flybuys)



Happy with the outcome, very likely to hit the 80 this time around.
