Also, isn't it a bit odd that they held the event in Sydney, not their home of Brisbane?

I know at least 2 people were flown in. Also VA has their HQ in BNE..

And as a point not every travel journo comes from Sydney either… it’s not the epicentre of the media

AFAIK, Velocity is still based in Sydney. Maybe explains the Sydney and not Brisbane part?

Travel ‘journo’, or travel ‘reporter’? Most of them regurgitate press releases or flew ‘as the guest of’ the airline complete with stock images of the seats and services.

I spent 20+ years in the media so I think I know a tad or two about their locations.. and I still know plenty of journos who aren’t in Sydney..

It’s already a fizzer, from what I’ve seen there isn’t a further announcement coming…

For those wondering, here's a little bit more information about yesterday's event. It was mainly put on for Velocity's partners and was a celebration of some of Virgin and Velocity's recent successes, as well as the launch of a new Velocity Frequent Flyer logo and brand campaign.

Velocity did tease that there are more announcements to come. This could potentially include some tweaks to Velocity status at the higher end. But we don't yet know exactly when or what they will be.

Virgin Australia's loyalty program Velocity Frequent Flyer is rebranding with a new logo and a new slogan - and there are more changes on the way.
