Had a quick look Y MEL-LAX return via BNE @ $1,351. QF direct on A380 @ $1,254.

It would be very hard to justify booking VA over QF on price and route, unless you desperately need SC's.

I understand from a business perspective if the numbers don't add up, but it seems they're are not even going to try to retain the MEL market on this route by being competitive. So very disappointed in VA with this change

Having trouble booking the fares. Im doing a search with flexible dates and its showing availability on certain days but then when I go to book they are disappearing

Some very good DOM fares - $99 to TSV. Wish I could know what I was doing April to June next year!

The $1899 BNE-LAX is nice but being in MEL pushes it to $2576 (still a decent price but beside the point).

$3,004 on QF in PE direct. I guess it depends on how much you value an extra 6hrs+ of your time and the tired/scratchiness of adding another 3+ hours to a very long flight in both directions.

No. Although I think that fare difference is probably about the cost of a flexi return to BNE.

Still worth it if you need the SCs and can travel within those periods. Those fares BNE-LAX and SYD-OOL are fantastic, and the other regular Happy Hour fares aren't too shabby either.

Rather annoyingly it did finally start working later but by that time I had lost my window of time to make the bookings.

Indeed ... OOL-MEL -OOL at $75 each way a cracker also .......great to see some real value.

what is minimum lead time to travel on the happy hours typically?

Pity about the credit card surcharge on all tickets. What do you guys do? Just do DD?

Have you tried gift cards to nearest $50 of fare with cc to get points then the remainder bank transfer

Smart man, that was plan b because I am not sure if va vouchers are as " simple" as qf , also usually will be multiple persons bookings

Va vouchers are simpler and fairer in the true sense of the phrase, given the 5% discount to be had

how do you get the 5%? entertainment book? I see you can buy a very large amount. Is there a downside to using a voucher larger than the ticket? can it be used for say 3 people on the ticket?

It varies by route and class , however normally 3-6 months , however have seen some destinations available previously for travel in the next week when they have had other happy hour sales, however highly unlikely you will find something DEC JAN in todays sale

Gotcha, then i should go ahead and book then. Just found out about the 5% discount, and its a pity the GC dont deliver immediately, to be able to take advantage of the triple point deal.

Yes its Entertainment book, you get a code that can be applied against any booking usually issued within two days, sometimes same day.
