Virgin Happy Hour [Thursdays]

Re: Happy hours not so cheery anymore

$125 for MEL-SYD, $250 for SYD-PER, happy hour is pretty much a waste of time now.

Re: Happy hours not so cheery anymore

Unsubscribed from happy hour. The 'deals' just didn't do it for me.

Re: Happy hours not so cheery anymore

One of the lamest Happy Hours I have seen.

Not sure why they bother. And it's not like the flights are full either. A work colleague sitting in row 15 last Friday BNE-SYD said you could have sat anywhere and could have had a shadow. He got a wine from the cart that started at row 15 and got another from the front cart when it went past. ;)

Re: Happy hours not so cheery anymore

Of course there is $2600 PE SYD-lax

Not that great considering:

- only a small window in shoulder season (October/Nov)

- previously it has been $1,999 during happy hour;

- it's not much (if anything) less than what their standard price was not that long ago;

- AUD has significantly devalued;

- economy can be purchased during peak season for a bit over $900 currently.

Against that the standard PE price for the search I did was about $3000 each way, IIRC.

PE saver was 1300$ or so a few days ago, mind you, you might be talking about return. Still not so much happy hour, just usual pricing

Re: Happy hours not so cheery anymore

Base prices are going up everywhere... The good times are over for flyers... And have begun for shareholders

Re: Happy hours not so cheery anymore

There are a number of happy hour fares that I reckon are above what the equiv saver light has been in the past few months.

Definitely.

I have to say, I thought they'd just reduce availability in the cheaper fare classes, rather than raise prices of the lowest saver fares, but I guess not!

Re: Happy hours not so cheery anymore

Terrible happy hour because of their "enhancements".

All fares will now include complimentary luggage across the network.

Complimentary luggage for the price of an additional $30+!

Re: Happy hours not so cheery anymore

Most of the happy hour fares today are for travel in Jan 2016... Wish they'd bring back some decent sale fares for travel for mid this year:|

Re: Happy hours not so cheery anymore

I thought I'd check again last week. Embarrassing.

Re: Happy hours not so cheery anymore

Not bad Y+ fares from either SYD-LAX or BNE-LAX.

$2600 for either May or October this year.

Re: Happy hours not so cheery anymore

Seems like all domestic happy hour flights are for 2016?
