And now I find that the fares offered in true "happy hour" for SYD-TSV are $30 cheaper than they were in the "sneek peak" (sic) period. You work that one out.

$299 MEL-AYQ (was $99 with JQ last week).

I think this is the big issue VA are not dealing with adequately. They're pricing themselves as a QF competitor, but rightly or wrongly, most people (including me) still compare them with JQ.

No the issue is they are marketing happy hour as being some kind of special bargain then charging the above prices.

BNE-CNS was marketed at $109. That's OK I guess (I've certainly seen it cheaper) so there were some slightly happier fares! As a comparison, the cheapest JQ during those VA promo dates comes in at $69 and QF at $175.

Pity that TT flights don't earn any points.
TT fares can be very good as it fits some of my flying schedules, but I want my VA FF and SC.
Wish they did, ala JQ and QF tie in.

OMG!

There's some lateral thinking ... it was a little bit early in BWI where I was to have considered that twist ... mind you Tiger only shows on my radar with Jetstar price beats ... and that is not very often ...

My eyes popped for just a second as well.....until the penny dropped and I gathered serfty was thinking TT as meaning trans-Tasman! I thought for one horrid second that I might have to actually fly TT rather than just threaten to do so!

Certainly cheaper flights offered in the current sale (ends Jun 30) than the Thurs evening window. Time for Virgin to abandon weekly happy hours, and just roll them out when traffic determines they can offer tempting prices?
