Thanks Gianni. I didn't put anything onto this card I thought there was a risk of not earning points, my relief was that nothing flagged govt spending that shouldn't have. A large EasyJet transaction was the only single transaction big enough should it have declined I would have missed the target (it didn't) I live in a small town without much AMEX acceptance so most was groceries, drinks, dinners & the local nursery. I buy wish vouchers through work - reward gateway - this card is my only one without a surcharge & the points were fine. I did purchase a very useful Westfield Eftpos card which happily earned points, and will be picking up another today. Good luck!

Yep that is the sort of stuff i was after.. good to know the Westfield Eftpos cards work. I have spent over the 3k this month in eligible spend so i threw in a few curveballs to test it out
-Red Energy
-a friend sending a request for money via paypal
- Plan on give it a go purchasing a preloaded visa or mastercard from Woolies or Coles
the other one of interest which i read about was the

STA Travel Flex Card
Seems to be a card where you can preload cash withe a 3% fee onto it and you can also withdraw the cash from any atm with no fees when doing so. Apparently if you top it up in-store it will register as a Travel agency payment and not as if you are purchasing international $$.

a bit of a thread here going back a few years but i imagine it would still be the same

Buying a prepaid card with CC in AUSTRALIA - FlyerTalk Forums

There was a mention earlier in this thread about a DEFT payment potentially being the reason points were rejected... did that get resolved?

I might have trouble meeting the $3k this month if I don't put something through via DEFT and it successfully counting!

I could be wrong, but I think it depends on what you are paying via deft? Non-Gov should be ok, ie I think that's how we pay our bodycorp fees.

Ah I wasn't sure how it showed up on the statement/how it was categorised... in this case I'm thinking of rent (which common sense would say is not government spend in any way, shape or form!).

How long did you guys receive the 20K point per month? After 3 weeks of my first-month bill and paid the bill, I did not see any 20K point in my virgin frequent flyer account.

Probably a silly question but I assume no one has had any problems using Paypal with this card (and getting the bonus)?

The next day after the statement arrived. Are the 20k points noted on your statement? If so, I'd call them.

I did it once, and it was fine paying a non gov source.

Mine was there on the day the statement came.

I've received my 20k points immediately also. Thought I had a little win. My first statement had 1000 or so earnt Velocity points and 20000 bonus points and the 21k or so got transferred to Velocity. This month (my second) had 1000 or so earnt Velocity points and 40000 bonus points. Alas only 21k or so landed in my Velocity account. One more month to go.

Has anyone managed to access their lounge passes yet? I can't find mine on my velocity account and my account was opened about 3 weeks ago.

I believe the T&C say you have to have transactions in the two months prior to requesting the lounge passes.

Edit; apologies, that's the Virgin credit for flights. So I don't know :-)

Just reached end of Month 1, not sure if it it calendar month or from date of joining because they are fairly similar dates. The 40,000k has already been transferred to my velocity account as well as the points i earnt on spend. i am now just waiting on the statement to see which of my transactions were or were not eligible for points earn and will report back if there are any surprises

Declined

Salary was well over the minimum requirements so must've been the Westpac, NAB and ANZ cards (all $15k each) I've requested in the past 8-9 months, even though these have all been cancelled.

Would it be worth arguing the case? I did it with my wife and ANZ with success.

I would say yes cause my application was initially rejected then accepted (card 8 for me so not unexpected!) From my perspective, you've got nothing to lose, but it was a frustrating process. Good luck!!

Woohoo, every dollar I spent ended up being eligible for points and the first lot of 40k has shown up on the statement, and transferred together too!

Sent through a letter for reassessment but still declined. Other than the three applications this year, there is absolutely no reason why I wouldn't be eligible for this card, so leaves me very frustrated with Virgin Money/Citibank. Might avoid them for a while.

Sorry to hear that.

Seems to be that they accumulate and keep reporting on all the bonuses. I received my latest statement saying 60K+ points earnt (20K from three months worth). There may have been a win though for receiving bonus points even when spending criteria wasn't all met? ;)

Very nice!

Have just hit the spend in my third month (every dollar posted in month two except a $20 myki top up which I wasn't expecting would earn, it was the first card I grabbed).

Will hold on to this card while I look around for another. It appears VA offers are a little thin on the ground at the moment sadly... might be time for another ANZ rewards black.

I'm just starting to collect VA points (more than enough QF already) and noticing there aren't too many options around right now...
Can't do AMEX just yet either.
Maybe this 60k will be a nice starting point...

Well my final month of bonus points posted today, so managed to get the full 120k points with the high flyer :) Now I'll have to decide whether to renew the card when the next annual fee is due..it's a much better earn as a daily non-Amex card (compared to my Citi signature), but obviously has an annual fee..
