Ways that hotels annoy guests

I usually travel alone and often find that there aren’t enough hooks to hang up towels in the bathroom. I’m happy to use my towel for a few days but if it’s hanging on a hook, it’s still damp the next day and I don’t want to use a damp towel.

This particularly annoys me in hotels that have been built in the last few years or refurbished rather than the older ones. I can imagine with three people it would be even more frustrating.

Mini bar fridges that automatically charge when you touch something. You don't have to drink it - just touching it is enough.
In my experience you have to remove the item to activate the switch, or at least joggle it so the switch senses the movement.

The jostling is the biggest issue. Sliding medicine into whatever spots are available has triggered all sorts of charges over the years. And some hotels jam so much in, you can't use the fridge at all yourself. They may as well not advertise the fridge as being a feature of the room.

Recently in Europe, I even asked one hotel if they could remove all the things from the minibar as there was no room. The hotel was great and took everything away promptly. Imagine my delight when I was then charged for whatever formally lived in the spot each time I took my things in and out of the fridge!

Actually any stocked fridge is a pet peeve. They often don't stock-take acurately so I've been charged for an item I didn't use.
Has anyone yet mentioned the rooms where the bathroom walls are see-through glass? In a hotel in Dubai you even had full view of someone sitting on the toilet. I travel alone and even still it creeped me out!
You could watch TV at the same time! Yes, I've been to a motel in provincial Australia where a large window was built into the bathroom wall, but there was a curtain you could pull shut.

One of many features that come under the general banner “triumph of form over function”….

Or where bathrooms have those beautiful views of Sydney Harbor which - unless you see yourself as an art installation - mean you need to put down the blinds or risk flashing to the windows nearby!

Yep and then leave their 'be green' card out but nowhere to hang things to dry.

Staying with 2 kids in a double or king room and only being given two towels and having to call housekeeping daily for towels for the kids.
Daily because each morning housekeeping would take 4 towels out of the bathroom and replace with two.

Really peeves me when you stay at a hotel and there is no butler. Do they expect me to get out of bed and use the nespresso machine myself? :)
