Wendouree allocations and general discussion

I followed all your advice and went and got some... it’s been in the decanter close to an hour and yep I get the hype. Super unique, I get the mentholy character and a smack of tannin. Length ligers for days. Can easily see at 12 years old how they could go for decades. $100 at a wine shop in Melb. Would love to see how it compares to the straight cab and Shiraz, but more than happy with this as an introduction.

You might want to slow down on these $100 purchases,2006 still very young and can be cellar for another decade or 2, go back to the shop and see if they have anything in the 90’s, just keep in mind that wendouree aren’t your everyday drinking wine. Try other wines to develop your palate while waiting for the wendouree to mature.

Good stuff.
You don't know until you try.
In recent years the younger wines I have tried have been very approachable, albeit, they usually need a long decant in the order of a minimum of 3 hours to half a day. I like to try one on release; gauge its structure, then plan my own drinking window.

Great idea..Glad you enjoyed it. I have had a few at the 8 -10 year mark and really enjoyed them..

First year of being on the mailing list and still nothing. Quite aware it may take time but was hoping for a sneaky six of anything!

It's my third year and I've still heard nothing since returning my order. The last two years I've basically got 6 of each wine.

Called today, NSW is the second state they're processing and I've been warned shiraz and cab could be out by the time they get to me. Good to learn that they're picking a letter and start going through the list along with the states and crayon.

i really can't tell if this is correct or not, i received mine in mid july(Syd) but at the same time there's still alot of people in/around Sydney still haven't had their card charge yet, i still thinks they just work through the mail from day to day without any systems.

I agree. See my earlier post where i mentioned that a mate and i sent back our order on same day from same box. He received his order on 10th of July, my card hasn't been charged.

But were you both the same level? Red Crayon for example?

Shocked. I'm on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

full package?

As am I! Not full package, alas. I can't remember how much shipping was to SYD but it looks like I'm not up for either the Shiraz or the Cabernet - one of them is definitely in there though.

Going back to mini2's post after he rang, the bit about "picking a letter", I wonder if we have surnames that start with letters that are close in the alphabet, Dr Ralph? Mine starts with an H and a girlfriend in SYD who also starts with an H had her order processed yesterday too.

My last name starts with “W” and again, I don’t always receives wendouree early ,this year might be the second time out of the 5th year that I received my order this early

full package?
Looks to be what I ordered. But I did indicate I was happy to take substitutions.

No, not even close.
