Westfield XS card

I suppose when you look at it from the perspective that the $4.95 fee buys you 210 Velocity points plus the points on your CC it's not too bad...

A bit annoying having to pay large bills at the PO $200 at a time though.
Would be extremeluy annoying for the guy with the 700K bill!

yes, it's not a viable way of paying amounts like that ;)
You can see there is some intelligence in the design of the system. They WANT us to buy lots of little ones so that some might get lost or not fully used. It's all a game. We musn't assume that the people on the other side aren't aware of this or that they are silly. Sure sometimes they are silly (think cat food or toll road payments at 1c per time) but we musn't assume that

Seems like a good way to use the XS in places that doesn't accept Amex . Can I use these to pay my hotel bill at check out instead of having to have the cash or get hit with the 1.5% fee?

yes, i see that as a great use of the XS card. ;)

I think that bank charges $2.50 for payments at the PO...

Correct

Not country charges $2.50 for OTC transaction

Saw it in my online statement

$0.50 more than the Silver Donut factory

examined in detail a certain bank's CC statement and nabbed this

"DIRECT DEBIT
DID YOU KNOW THAT YOU CAN MAKE CREDIT CARD REPAYMENTS VIA
DIRECT DEBIT FROM AN ACCOUNT OF YOUR CHOICE? TO FIND OUT
HOW, VISIT xx_.COM.AU, GO TO CARDS AND SELECT MANAGE YOUR
CREDIT CARD. OR CALL US ON THE PHONE NUMBER SHOWN ABOVE."

A bit of a hunt around on their web site found this:

"make your payment at most Australia Post outlets."

I found this interesting because this particular bank doesn't mention the post office on its statements. Or at least the statements I have looked at on the net.

I won't get too starry eyed about this but it adds to the knowledge base and emphasises what a great product the PO has. Let's hope it's a successful business for them. Better opening hours and a greater range of payment options

to the PMer.....it's not which bank. And there are enough hints in the post sorry.

A $2 processing fee will apply to payments made in person at Australia Post

I bought a couple of excess cards on Saturday, maxed out, so it came to $1999.90. Today I looked into the Canberra GPO where they have a couple of brand new kiosks. Had Testra bill, gas and electricity and a couple of WB CC statements. One printed from the internet without barcode, one paper statement with.

I was able to pay the utilities. Just keep on scanning the barcodes, pressing the "next" buttons, and when done, "Pay and Go". Swipe the giftcard, select "Savings" for the A/C, enter PIN and it came back "Approved".

Yippee!

That was about 750 points for $4.95 and still a bunch left on the card, which I'll use for other places where fees are charged or they don't take CC. Aldi, I'm looking your way.

No dice on the CC statements. They just don't have the POST@BANK barcode. I'll have to look into alternate means.

You know people who wonder about the value of all this (there isn't much, if any, after time and expenses) aren't accounting for the fun of the exploration for knowledge, the quest for understanding
Hah! You just trying to rationalise it!

But yeah, there is a certain amount of glee in exploring the sinkholes.

I'm not sure that there's a huge amount of potential, unless there is a way of fanning the money online, but it adds a few thousand points that would normally go begging.

Purchased more cards at concierge, they now say that if ir / they are over $500, they need to print a second receipt and write your licence number...

It is somewhat common practice in some places overseas to ask for ID when making large credit card purchases.

If your CC charge bounces or is reveresed then they have you D/L number for the fraud squad... ;)

I have just realised that a certian [in]famous computer supplier in Melbourne who charges a massive CC surchage accepts EFTPOS without fees. They are also used to splitting payments as many real EFTPOS cards have a $1000 per day limit.

Good candidate for XS cards, along with any other suppliers charging large fees. One could potentially carry an XS card for those moments when told "AmEx will be 3% surcharge sir".

Corporate scheme also looks viable upon closer examination.

yep: a great way to pay bills. Good on Westfield and the PO

Did you try taking the CC statements to the PO counter and pay inside?
I thought I'd come back here and check first. I might just shut up now before people start throwing bricks at me.

I queried this, (staff couldn't do anything as boss wasn't there, then made phone contact, when told about licence).

In the end it was done, without boss there.

Was told they keep name/licence reciept until official bank / cc authorisation is complete.

Anyone else had this occur?

Also has anyone been questioned as to why you want so many / large amount? ie: over $500.

Why buy in person when $5.95 postage can result in a good velocity haul? Good to see Woolies now accepting them!
