Too bad it's limited to $200 per transaction. So you are paying $4.95 + delivery for $200

However this one is better: http://www.westfield.com.au/au/reta...roducts/200-xs-by-westfield-without-packaging No packaging! :)

Payment is only via VISA or Mastercard though.

40x$200 cards net: Earn 16,396 Velocity Frequent Flyer Points on this purchase.

So that's $198+$5.95 for 16,396 velocity points, is that worth it? I dont use virgin but this would be good to know.

*Remember not to order more than $10k of cards.

Hmmmm...

Why buy in person when $5.95 postage can result in a good velocity haul? Good to see Woolies now accepting them!

The expense for the online card with Points haul is the limit of $200, so $4.95/card + $5.95 postage. 5 cards = $1030.70 so $30.70 for 3092 points (possibly 3607.45) = $9.92/1K points
1 x $995 card = 999.95 so $4.95 for 999 points = $4.99/1K points

That said if you're using them to pay home bills, that might not be such an issue. If you're getting a little smarter, the maths of concierge makes more sense.

The Velocity double dip (and $200 limit) are great for 'employee' benefits in small business (and avoiding FBT).

However the $200 limit and extra fees are too frustrating when dealing with larger transactions. Personally, I would rather cards with a $995 value and fewer fees (thus I sacrifice the velocity points).

A quick spreadsheet analysis suggests that buying the $200 cards (with velocity pts and extra fees) essentially means you are buying the additional points for the fees. For some of you, this may be a worthwhile endeavour, while for others maybe not.

The economics of the double-dip were better when Westfield earnt 4 points per dollar on Velocity.

So it's not worth it now? So $200 - $250 for a flight to Perth from Sydney.

Or for shopping on the Westfield site with JB etc, and more often than not is higher than 2 points per dollar.

Actually while saving money somewhere else, I just realised that there is a third (fourth?) factor that may affect the economics of the double dip - it may require additional research.

Aalthough some here may already know what I'm talking about (or be doing it... *cough*)

Have an insurance payment required. No Postbillpay, but BPAY via cheque, savings and credit card with Ref numbers.
So can the BPAY ref numbers be entered into the ATM machine or over the counter to pay via WS card?

Citibank do award points for BPAY transactions...

No, I don't think so...

However many credit cards will allow you to earn points on BPay transactions in such a situation. Therefore you don't need an XS card at all for that bill.

The first example was 2 pts (Online Velocity) + 1 pt CC, (brackets 1.5)

With the 2nd example, that's on 1pt/$1 , if you have an Amex with 1.5 even better.

Worked out that a business flight to LAX on VA comes in at $1600 in the first example, 2nd example, flights come in at $668 (1.5 pt example) or $997 for 1 pt/$1

all examples exclude taxes and airport charges applied to points redemptions.

Point being Westfield.com is often on "special" with Velocity and has had earning up to 6 points per dollar like at Christmas where a $449 purchase was quite rewarding:

21 Jan 1322 Dec 12 WESTFIELD ONLINE POINTS
21 Jan 1322 Dec 12 WESTFIELD ONLINE BONUS POINTS

And it looks like costs can be negated further this way but I will leave that for others to divulge. Online is also a nice way to earn both DJ and QFF points with Westfield.com for the same purchase (not counting credit card earn) ;), if your partial to a drop.

Thank you Markis10. I had picked up a hint earlier about alcohol but was thinking in the Woolworths direction.

I think the TC is the best option. People are forgetting that the cc company's are charging $2.95 odd to pay at the PO . For each $995 which is the max it's $2.95 .

I thought I was on to something today when I found another westfields site to buy the gc from but no where to enter your velocity number otherwise would have been worth the delivery . I think it's westfields giftcards.com

So whats going on now ? I tried to put the money onto a travel card it didn't work I tried to pay my bills it didn't work . It says banking not available with this card . I was at my local office I selected savings and then pin any help ? This is my first time

Same PO, different employee

"No, cannot do that..."

"Cash only... that's the policy"

Grrrr....

... but it was done with your manager two days ago....

"No, that's my policy..."

... so, where is the manager today ?...

"I'm the only one here today.."

I just walked out.. steaming with anger

PO: please issue some instructions to your so-average employees

unclear what you're talking about or what you actually did. the exesssss card is an eftpos card, so it obviously won't work on line, or in person unless you select "Savings" on the terminal. it will definitely work if you go in, say "I'd like to pay this bill", hand them the bill, say you'd like to pay via eftpos, then pay via eftpos.

You have an excess card? It works to pay bills with a Bank @ Post barcode. I've paid Telstra and utility bills using one of the self serve kiosks, and that was painless.

I've just this hour bought a travel card - the weight and run version if you get my drift - using another excess card and that worked fine. That has to be done over the counter.

If you are unclear about my (deliberately) unclear post, I'm sorry.

Let keep it that way unless you read my earlier posts (when I wrote that I PM'ed Newk).
