Westfield XS card

OMG. There's a whole universe of these things out there! .

Yes. BUT you will find some are treated as cash advances (oe 20% interest straight away!), and some not allowed to be bought on CC at all.

ie the ones in Woolworths stores cannot be bought with credit cards.

The trick is to find ones that one that are treated as a purchase. Virtually all gift cards are. But the debit cards and EFTPOS cards are normally not.

Private forums are so hard to monitor and administor.......dont want this place to end up like FT....PM's are good but I am sure Newk is working overtime clearing them out......code is good and the information is in this thread....some people are just lazy and don't bother to read and then they need the spoon

They contacted him directly, gave him a slap on the wrist and indicated that he could not keep doing what he had been doing.
Well, that's okay. I'd be interested to know what sort of activity level raised the red flag - and how blatant it had been.

But so long as the cards aren't suspended or something it just means that you've had your fun, you're not out of pocket, we're keeping an eye open, go tell your mates. So the party might be over, but you don't have a hangover the next morning.

Just shattered dreams.

I'm happy to host a private forum, mailing list or wiki if people think it's worth it.

Thanks for the info.

I reckon a private forum is something we badly need - not specifically for this XS card business, but just in general to keep the spirit of "sharing" alive with regards to the best tips and tricks but without it all being out in public. That said, I'd much rather it was something AFF hosted - nothing personal ferni, just feels like it would be a step backwards to "split" the community :)

I agree - I'd much rather it hosted here. Another forum I'm a member of allows us to have private groups. They also run vBulletin so it can be done, just weather AFF wants to allow/support it.

1st rule: how to set up rules ?

More discretion, less bravado, more PMs, less blow-by-blow account for the spoon feeders ....

My 2 cents !

The sound you can hear is my hand hitting my forehead and plates being smashed by a male cow in the plate shop. (Not you wafliron)

Everyone PLEASE be careful with your use of this card. Read the suggestions in the whole thread about how (maybe) not to draw attention to yourself and in turn us.

edit to add: and not you ferni and not you legroom

and another edit to add: and YES, I know: I set this forum up against advice so why am I complaining now?

yet another edit to add: "a sigh of relief ;)"

Thanks to "you know who you are"

Newk - I would like to say thanks for all your work you have done in this thread. I also agree wholeheartedly that the more steps taken between the purchase and the payment the better off we all are. Even if there is a cost involved it is still only that - a small cost. If all merchants make a little bit of money out of each of the steps, no one should complain about the process.

I have been one of the many who have annoyed Newk with a PM of my thoughts but I thought it was best rather than posting too much here. I also concede that a private thread is an interesting idea, but how do you decide who is in and who is out. Surely even those you are trying too stop would just be able to qualify as easily, if not easier, as others.

These are the current Melbourne Po's:

The Glen
Keysborough
Pakenham
Cranbourne
Boxhill
Waverley Gardens
Fountain Gate
Southland.

as quoted on the phone today.

Are these the POs with the self service machines?

Yes.

Melbourne City - West (Collins West) also has the big self-pay machines. However I am yet to use them.

Am I the only simpleton here or are there others totally confused with this thread?

Any attendees at Wednesday night's drinkathon expert in this matter?

If YES - happy ade is on me.

As the event organiser, I suppose I should show up on Wednesday... Happy to have a chat then :)

Perfect - would love a chat.

Must admit though - lot of water under the bridge since I posted that - coupla LEGENDS have helped me out - have developed a theory or 2 myself - happy to share over a beer on Wed night.

I don't think it's been reported before so here is another data point: the not a virgin CU CC successfully received something by post today. I believe serfty's suggestion somewhere above that we leave excess baggage in our pocket until the very last minute is an excellent idea. I seem to have less trouble since doing that.
Also confirm another non country postal success. It took several goes but at least the PO CSO was prepared to give it a go.

My non country goldbusiness card on the Dec statement says no payment at AP allowed.
