I note to pay the "nice sunny day/warm day" cc there is a $2 fee at the PO on statement.
If paid at the Self Service ATM in P.O is the fee still applicable?

yes fee most definately applies

obviously why would they have a fee for ap when no fee at self service

I have some travel coming up using a 'boutique' provider, who charge a 3% surcharge for all CCs. I am currently investigating if they take EFTPOS...

Yep. There are fees for most payments. It's part of the entry price that allows the game to continue. Best bills are those with no fees for billers that don't take Amex (or possibly other cards). Bonza

I havent found a retailer who wont take eftpos for purchases.

Havent you seen those eftpos ads? Use eftpos press "SAV"

My non country goldbusiness card on the Dec statement says no payment at AP allowed.
No longer do they barcode their statments for Agency (SABS) payments but do with Bank@post. Need to have noncountry card with you & know its PIN as well as XS' PIN.

Um. It is likely Craig T did have "excess" cards. In all senses. PM sent

Have you ever shopped online? Surely online retailers count as retailers?

But I take your point, if a retailer has a CC terminal, then they should take EFTPOS, and usually without fees/surcharges.

In the case I mention above, the issue will be getting me and the terminal to be in the same location :p :p

Non country card certainly on list linked above. Plus many successful reports. There seem to be two systems. One uses bar code. The other uses swipe. I THINK.

Edit to add:

thanks to whoever ran my posts together. As you can NOW see I have worked out how to edit :). I only just got the phone app up and running. So thanks for your patience

My note above about two different systems doesn't mean that non country card for example will work both ways.....for a while I think it did using bar codes on old statements while switching over to,I think, the all swoosh method now in use.

For those with furrowed brows: welcome. Hopefully we can turn them into smiles.
For those querying the (admittedly silly) codes....You have a point. Maybe the thread title needs changing? Can any of the old hands advise on that please?
But also coding makes stuff harder to find with google. While I have strong suspicions that the card issuer understands all the mechanics of what's going on possibly the issuers of the not blunt things (hint it starts with p and ends with s and we talk about them a lot) doesn't. Remember how some issuers of not blunts wrecked people's ATO parties?

More: When not using bar code on non country (because that's no longer an acceptable method) you actually DON'T need PIN. Just push enter when it asks for PIN. carry on

Yeah, leave your thingamajig in your pocket until the last possible moment, then shove it in real fast.

But once the payment has been accepted, please please please show it off so that the seller knows it works and will recognise the next person's thin gummy. Er, thingummy.

Thanks for the Craig Thomson comment. It has set my mind running along certain lines.

Why are we using all this veiled speech when every bloody post comes up with the exact name of the thing as the subject line? It's like telling the cabbie you want to go to 112 Wollongong Street in Fyshwick late at night, hoping he'll think you are off to do some window shopping at the tile showroom there and not Madame Fifi's next door.

I'm in. I hope I can use this card to buy botox or something - I've got some serious frown marks after reading and re-reading and reading again, this thread.

Thanks for sharing. Hopefully I can also value add with my experiences.

Welcome

I can tell you are not one of those spoon feeders we referred to earlier on

Instead of using cash use your EFTPOS card. You will be surprised how much cash you will keep in the bank earning interest ( .. even some is good), and it will be there when it comes time to pay the piper.
