Credit Card Offers Westpac Altitude Black offers: 120,000 Qantas or Velocity Points (expires 30/4/25)

I'm not confident that this is the case.
I am reluctant to apply for the Westpac Amex until I am sure about that it doesn’t effect the 18 month exclusion period. I revieved this email from Amex:
“Thank you for contacting us…… Holding the Westpac Black American Express Companion Card will not impact bonus points on other Cards issued by American Express.
Kind Regards,
Amex Connect (A)

I thought this covered me. However, there appears to be a lot of doubt here that this is the case, so I am in 2 minds again?
Does anyone have any confidence about this? I am almost half way through my 18 months exclusion period for amex bonus points at the moment and want to ensure this will not restart this.

This was my second AMEX signed up for in the last 6 months. Pleased to say that both have now received their sign on bonus. Wan't 100% sure when I applied for these cards that that would be the case and would have been more than happy for the 80K Mastercard bonus especially considering this being fee free for the first year
What was the first Amex you signed up for? DJs?

Got my cards a few days before the deadline, now loading up some spend.
I paid some council rates via AusPost/PayPal on the AMEX (which I would usually do with the Explorer) and the transaction is no longer pending, but in the AMEX app it's saying 'Altitude Qantas 0' :/

Does it take a few days for points to show up here or has it been classed as ineligible spend? Any other ways to tell?

Amex usually rewards the points quickly and it shows up in your amex account. But it usually get stuck until a couple days- weeks then it will transfer. my sweeped around 06/08/09 and 06/09/09 when I got my card around 04/08/19.

Westpac side, make sure you call their credit card services to make sure your QFF is on their record. Quite a few people reported westpac "don't have it' despite having to enter it on their system during application. Make sure you also give them a name that matches exactly what on your QFF account ( most middle names are just shortened to one letter). Westpac side of cards sweeps points around 14th of each month.

I have 4 direct amex's and they still posted the 15k bonus I applied for the platinum alititude qantas. Its nowin my QFF account. :D. So go ahead and you don't need to worry.

My points from Westpac posted on the 4th of September. No sign of the 80k bonus though.
My first statement points from Westpac didn’t happen. They had correct QFF details and when I enquirer about it they said there was a problem if there system but should be fixed in 2-3 weeks. I’ll see. The second statement should have the bonus points so definitely what that to work.

I wouldn't hold your breath, from what I've read on here and ozbargain Westpac don't issue you the bonus points quickly, similar to St George (makes sense as they're essentially one in the same), making you wait as per their T&C's.

The bonus Altitude Points or Qantas Points will be added to your points balance within 12 weeks once you meet the eligible spend criteria.

Very high widespread sign-on bonii e ;) Sign-on bonii is one, .

Bonii?

Not boni, the plural of bonus? In Latin.

Had of? Not had have or had've? In English.

Received both the Westpac 80k & Amex 40k bonus points after the second
statements. Nice little earner.

Should I cancel a card with 15k limit before applying for this? I have 2 other cc's with 6k total limit

Well after starting this thread while I gained the card for my wife to get the 120K QFF Points I was not eligible for the offer due to the 12 month exclusion.

However over the last fortnight I have managed to snaffle for two targeted offers for myself a $0 first year free (with no 12 month exclusion periods) Westpac Plat VISA that gains 60K and today a free Black Plat Amex that will gain 20K.

So while 80K for free is not as good as 120K for free, it is still pretty good. So 200K for $0 my wife and I in a short period. ;)

"Welcome Bonus" 40K appeared on amex in the transaction that cut me over the 3k spend. About a week prior to my usual points sweep so will expect those to post this month.

Now, I'm facing the dilemma of whether to close the Amex or not. Will definitely be closing the mastercard as soon as the bonus points post - but if the Amex does not count towards the amex exclusion period, no harm in holding it through to the second year annual fee - thoughts?
