What cheeses me off

I flew JQ today. Domestic.

And I checked in a bag.

The flight wasn't cancelled.
They didn't weigh or size bags at the gate at all.
The onboard crew were fantastic.
Boarding was fast.
No bogan or eshay behaviour at all.
No yelling from point to point.
We arrived early.
My checked bag arrived at my destination.

Dammit... where's this JQ experience everyone's talking about??! 'Cos I missed out completely, and I even bought a Max bundle! 🙂😁😅

Possibly @anat0l because my nephew was FO?

I flew Nok Air during the week DMK-CNX.

I should actually pay them a compliment for overall treatment and expectation but my God those seats are narrow and extremely uncomfortable.

I was travelling alone and my lower back was extremely sore and I was stressed for quite some time but luckily fell asleep and woke up on landing in Chiang Mai.

WCMO is when a 787 lands 8 minutes before boarding is due to start and then they wait till the boarding start time to announce a late inbound plane and boarding will be delayed, could have stayed in the lounge but not worth hiking back now. The plane was never going to be turned around in 8 minutes!

That I can't get Google cloud to sync on one drive on the PC and I have spent half an hour by trying to get this xx_xx_x to work . I have so many old photos on various HDDs to go through and upload some of these to the cloud

Yikes - no one knows my sorrows - Sandvox (a third party app for web design) for iMac stopped working on Ventura - software company (Karelia) now defunct - all users of Sandvox basically SOL, At the moment I still have 2 systems (a Mac Book and and an iMac which is about to retired for the latest and greatest) which will run this app.

I'm at my wits end about where to go from here - I have dozens of my travel blogs websites in limbo. The only good news is that my hosting site is not Karelia's - but yet another third party which is still in business .

Where or where do I go from here??

Migrate the content to WP, much better ecosystem and support too. Happy to have a more detailed look at what you have and need if you want to drop me a PM.

Thats what I love about AFF - kind people happy to assist others they (likely) have never met. Like @RooFlyer I am totally ignorant about the issue (!) but hope it all works out for you @luxury-lizard

Many thanks @Flashback and @RooFlyer - I'll put together a more comprehensive explanation this weekend and send you a PM. I've pretty much accepted that I need to choose a new web design tool (but there are literally dozens to choose from - many of which are probably over engineered for my requirements (with steep learning curves) - often with quite high licence fees). It also seems many of the viable options also host your website(s) which is not what I want (I think, as all my sites and domain name is with Site5). For reasons which seemed like a good idea more than 15 years ago, every trip (6+ per year) is a separate website with one which acts as an index to these. For those who are long time Apple users - I started with iWeb and MobileMe (RIP - thanks Apple) then moved to Sandvox (a third party app) on the recommendation of the Apple Community on the Apple Support website - so there are lots of users facing this issue. The company which developed Sandvox (Karelia.com) still has a website but the company has seemingly gone out of business - probably years ago - they also offered a web hosting service (which I did not use) so those users have even bigger issues. The Sandvox app was still working until I upgraded to the most recent version of MacOS (Ventura) - I have 2 MacBooks and 2 iMacs - one MacBook and one iMac have not been upgraded to Ventura - one iMac is about to be retired (given to a low tech friend) but I would like to upgrade the other MacBook.

This all started just before my recent trip to Indonesia (for the Aqua Expeditions cruise from Bali to Flores) when I bought a new iMac and encountered various software compatibility issues - which I have sorted out (like Photos libraries needing to be converted before being moved to the new iMac) and am now grappling with Sandvox.

Sorry the long story - will send that PM once I net this all out .... thanks again

Gesture smartphone control, a la Apple iPhone.

Enough said.

OK probably fine once you get used to it, but trying to teach my 70+ year old mum to use it effectively on the new Motorola she has (which by default uses gesture-based navigation) is a nightmare. Luckily there was an option built-in to switch it back to Android default 3-button navigation.

My UI/UX brain is exploding.

A Japanese airline would be about the only one that could manage in the time! Have you seen the train ladies in action - theyare tremendously efficient

Another SQ A350-900 overnight flight and another horror flight. Person in front of me reclined all the way throughout flight where as the 2 in front of my wife and daughter did not recline at all. I struggled to cope but luckily too tired to stay awake and had nightmarish type of sleep.

I really like having Virgin Gold/Platinum status and I quite like the break in SIN but this cannot continue this way. It's stress and torture.

Can't believe that most airlines are going with this stupid A350-900 solution with pre-reclined economy seats + further recline available. One option is to lose weight and purchase exit row but then not seated with wife/daughter.

And no, LCC is not a feasible solution.

And no, LCC is not a feasible solution.

Why not? ScootPlus is a solid product when priced at a small increment over normal economy (and often cheaper than SQ or QF economy) or if you travel in Scoot economy, Scoot Super seats have 30% extra legroom and adjustable head rests and are more comfortable than most non-LCC's seats these days, and are available for only a relatively small upcharge (and if the flight is not full, these are often the last seats to be occupied so are more likely to have empty seats around them).

The other option I find better is day flights. I detest overnights from Asia to Australia.

Minor WCMO

MEL T3
1630 departure delayed to 1640.
Boarding call announced in lounge at 1620.

I decided to wait 10min and try to be the last to board.
As I departed the lounge at 1630 the signs said Flight closed.
I then got a phone call "where are you"

I got the the aircraft door at 1635 and that was with the gate changing from 3 to 6 which was not announced.

I could have still got there at 1640 because the doors were closed at 1642

Husband got one of those extremely nasty calls from Qantas in Melbourne. It saved to his message bank as his phone was turned off. It was turned off because the flight the call was about was the last leg of a connecting flight and the previous Qantas flight had been delayed in Hobart for a couple of hours. He hadn't even arrived at the time. All on the one PNR so the nasty call was unnecessary. He played the call to the Qantas Pub attendant when he finally got in who was horrified.

WCMO is making a GP appointment, arriving 5 mins early (in case there was paperwork needed), then kept waiting for 20 mins past appointment time.

Doesn't seem to matter what time I book (and this is every practice I have ever been to) they are running late; I suspect because some people book the shortest consult darn well knowing they need a longer one but don't want to pay for it.

You get a text reminding you to be on time, and warning about a fee for no-shows, but where can I send my invoice for being kept waiting?

Is that not standard procedure now for QF ? Like documentation that QF has not issued or issued in or with errors, it is always the "valued" customer's fault. Qantas no doubt says sorry - again - which fixes everything.

Agree. I booked the very first appointment of the day. And was still 30 minutes waiting. Because a med sales person had popped in. I arrived just before appt time. Thats 30 years ago and I still remember it.
