What cheeses me off

I refuse to install the facebook app on my phone. If I look at facebook at all, it will only be through a browser, which I am sure still carries an unacceptable level of risk. I don't trust them at all.
So apparently when installing FB there’s a setting that allows FB access to photos. Now I post photos for trip reports for friends. And that requires access to all photos and not just those I need to post. Now shut down.

As someone who is very new to FB, this is news to me. Need to check my settings. I'm not a huge fan of social media. I only used to use LinkedIn for professional connections, but recently had to sign up to FB for my other business.

It’s in Privacy under the app setting in general settings and not the settings when using FB.

It happened to my husband with our granddaughter. Parents very strict, no posting of photos of her which we fully support.
Somehow a photo of her was posted on his very rarely used Facebook account, he dislikes Facebook immensely, but only has it for messenger.

I got a very terse phone call from my son to "tell dad to take it down"! We had no idea how it happened and maybe @Pushka you have explained it.

I don't think that specific setting is the culprit, FB has access to my photo gallery on phone BUT only pictures I select in a post get uploaded.

More likely you have another setting to sync or something, unless it's a weakness specific to iPhone, as had never happened on any of my androids anniversary been using Facebook since the start.

This is my understanding. Facebook needs access to photos and videos if you want to post anything on Facebook that has one.

I don't know of anything in Facebook that can just autopost or even share the photos or videos on your device without you specifically authorising it, e.g. you actually post it or share it. I mean, sharing can be rather unwitting and simple to do these days, but that still doesn't seem to line up with what @Pushka went through.

It's never happened before and I've been on FB for years. FB does seem to have auto posted from my photos taken yesterday and labelled it as My Story right up top of my page. I didn't authorise it, in fact I rarely used phone for social yesterday just taken some pictures. I didn't share it either. The only way I post photos to FB is via Instagram of my trip photos. It didn't appear in Insta.

It was a first for me too. I only post photos to FB through Insta where you can select the Option Share with FB. I only ever put travel pics online. I just wonder if something has changed. Anyways be on the lookout for changes to your profile page as that's where it was posted. There's nothing on my actual FB settings that has changed but found the general settings options for the app after searching on google.

So the issue is, I didn't share this photo to FB. Nor to Instagram. So why did it appear on my FB page and four of my friends had seen it. And it was an awful photo of her to boot. 😂

Double check there isn't a separate setting for stories. I don't use the story feature at all.

Or that instagram hasn't added an auto-Post feature as I don't use insta either.

Wild guess... did you accidentally take the photos while in FB? Like, FB was open before you decided to take the photos?

Just a huge wild guess, because when you create a story in FB, there is a camera looking button. The interface afterwards otherwise almost looks like a normal camera.

Anyway, now I'm just purely speculating.

Hope the "fallout" from your accidental post was not too much, i.e. disposition with the DIL.

That's actually a great question to ask. I've always closed down messenger in cases like that. But maybe not FB. And I posted a video of my sons feed of him being dorky over Christmas while he was open in his Snapchat or something. It was using that camera when he handed me his phone. His fault Apparently a great hit with his mates. 😂

DIL is pretty much disinterested in my FB even though she's a Friend there so think I might have avoided drama. Anyway she needs me at the moment as a baby sitter. 😂

Me neither. First time I've actually seen something there. I didn't think it had actually 'gone public' until I could see Friends watching.

Obviously unwell people with disgustingly phlegmmy coughs, selfishly choosing to fly without a mask and share their infection with everyone else.

FA just offered them a mask because she could see every one else's look of panic, but of course the prat declined to accept it.

Well, let's just hope it was an allergy kind of thing.🤢 Must be awful these days for people with a chronic non infectious cough issue.

Water to the entire estate going off twice without warning in 24 hours (7 hours yesterday; to be determined today) and Sydney Water not even updating their website to note the outage.

We've now learned that apparently the person they sent out to check yesterday couldn't even find the water main and "went home." Water randomly came back on late last night but Sydney Water confirms they don't know why, before going out again this morning.

I suppose I had a good excuse to jump into Shelley Beach this morning and wash off with a travel-size shampoo and liquid soap at the outside shower to make myself presentable for work, albeit a few minutes late.

Booking a restaurant or cafe and they immediately put you on their mailing list. Emails are annoying but it's easier to block them but texts with no way of unsubscribing p!ss me off. The latest one was a place I went to two years ago and haven't been back since

You can still block the messages if on an I device

You can block calls, sms and mms from specific numbers on all smart phones (and tablets that have 4G/G5 connectivity), it is in no way unique to Apple.

However just like spammers sometimes they spoof numbers so its different each time; or if its those annoying political sms they say from *insert political partyname* and you cant generally block by name.

Consent is implied or there is a consent built into the initial contact however, they must provide an 'unsubscribe' facility. It applies to all electronic messages - including SMS.

This might help:

Was going to say, there needs to be an unsubscribe option and it needs to be unconditional. I think the old VA got done in court due to a misstep like this.
