What cheeses me off

So what happens to the dope that just moved into my building with multiple cars and only 1 garage space and no street parking for at least 500 metres? Just leave their 2nd car anywhere the feel like it?

Street parking is a premium in Toowong so Brisbane City Council shows yet again they have no idea what's going on. Reducing parking spaces does not reduce the cars people own.
This is of no help to anyone — but one of the many reasons I moved to the coast was my frustration with these coughulative incivilities. I am shocked by the bloated sense of entitlement and selfishness that has infected many in society—impacts of which are amplified by living in high density inner cities.

I lived in inner city Melbourne from age 17 when went to uni. Same infrastructure, triple the population, the C thing in 2020 and almost five decades later its really not pleasant.

Keep an inner city place there for seeing friends and theatre etc but cannot see myself moving back…

And just as I start reading the Sunday Age.
Hey just park your caravan in a suburban street….

Should not be legal to leave any trailer parked for any period of time. If you do not have a private park for a trailer it should not be allowed to be registered. It's stupid enough new planning laws allow council's permit blocks of units without a garage or more for every unit, the reason given that people should be riding bikes. Well that has been Clover Moore's line for the past decade.
In Japan you cannot own a car unless you can park it off the street.

Edit: And if it turns out car ownership does drop (never happen) then there should be a campaign to turn garages into wine storage.

Quite a lot of vans and boats parked in the street near our unit, one owner with camper leaves it in the street outside the block.
The area has big wide tree lined streets and lots of places to park,BUT there is a lot of midrise construction happening and street
parking will eventually be an issue. Letting the developers off the hook with parking spaces is a really dumb move imo.
afaik parking spaces in our building change hands atm for around $100k , we have 3….

What city or region? What can you lease them for?
I recall when you could buy a car park in the Sydney located Park Regis building for around $30k.

Brisvegas bayside.. only residents access and would not rent them anyway, not worth the faffing about….. we leave the unit empty for the same reason.

There's usually about a 10 minute grace to exit once you've paid.
Which is where? In the fine print somewhere?

I looked at receipt earlier and it was printed at 8:40pm and I exited at 9:09pm. I paid $23 at 8:40pm. If I had paid at 9:09pm it would have been $23.

Stop trying charge me $8 for the difference when there is no difference.

P.S. One time I picked up hire car at OOL and didn't leave until 2 hours later because my then 2 year old refused to sit in car seat. So if that happened yesterday I would have needed to pay for 2 hours extra?

It's OK though. I was not going to pay the $8 last night no matter what they think their terms and conditions say. Too many valid reasons that invalidate any 10 minute restriction they try to impose. Headache anyone?

WCMO #1 when you go to supermarket to buy the aussie made laundry detergent you have been using for decades to find they have stopped stocking it and given the shelf space to inferior home brand product made in China.

As is colesworths motis operandi they bully local brand names and farmers to lower prices to unreasonable low points whilst not passing on savings to consumer, then when the brand wants to increase price a small amount, the use as an excuse to flood shelves with non local product, taking away consumers choice to shop Australian.

WCMO#2 supermarket price gouging. I've been using the same two shower gels for at least 10 years. Up until last year they were $8.99 and $9.99 respectively full price at Woolies and $7.99 and $9.59 at Coles and always $6-6.99 when on special.

To justify their fake special price of $11.99 they now claim the normal price in $17.99 and $18.99 - as if! Yes costs have increased but not almost 100%. Off to chemist warehouse I go.

Re: WCMO #1
Agree this has been happening insidiously
Basically they do not just stock items as such - they rent the shelf space (eye line > above or below) for the manufacturer to display their wares. More like a consignment store model than meeting customer needs - cant afford to pay/products dont move - expect the landline to arrange evictiin (sayonara soap powder)

I read that - amazing if true that one van hasn't moved in over two years.

I had a friend who lived in an apartment and was constantly annoyed by neighbour parking in wrong spot so he parked behind them and left for his two week FIFO job - they didn't park there again

Where I used to live in Melbourne we were in a court and one of the few inner city streets without parking restrictions of any kind. In those days >25years ago only neighbors and their visitors respectfully parked there…..in the 5 years before we left we had some cough car someone decided to house there (not stolen/nothing can be done) for at least a year. Thankfully (!) when its windows were smashed out it became a danger so towed away (said council). We were all quietly amused and happy but never found out who did it. Then of course we found people would park all day then catch public transport into work (less than 100m away). Yes its legal - but my amenity changed and I got out

Clover's policy to rid Sydney city of cars and make it total chaos with unregistered and uninsured push and electric bikes cannot be achieved by her banning cars, as she does not have the power. She can regulate parking. Making it difficult/impossible for the rate payers to park on the streets and only approving new residential builds with about one space for each two apartments and zero visitor parking, is how she serves the residents. And they keep voting her back !!

WCMO is when a tv series season ends on a huge cliff hanger then gets axed before the next season so you never know how it resolves. If you dont have a guarantee of another season, wrap the big things up.

Totally agree. Occasionally services like Netflix come to the rescue and save a show from permanent cancellation (e.g. "Arrested Development", "Lucifer", "The Killing"), but if a service like Netflix is doing the cancelling themselves, it's rare that said show gets any sort of reprieve or closure (with "Sense8" being the only notable exception that comes to mind).

Or halfway through the series where it really just gets left hanging...along with the streaming subscription...
