What cheeses me off

It's not about cashing in.

$30-$40/week as a landlord is nothing to me especially if you take tax into consideration.

But $30-$40/week extra for me as a tenant hurts. It seriously does hurt considering all other increases.
That makes no sense.
You've chosen to buy one place and not live in it. That your attempts to game the system aren't living up to expectations isn't anyone elses fault.

Oh don't worry, I don't disagree! But it's also not necessarily realistic to expect rent not to go up, as the cost to run the property does increase over time with CPI etc. In Aus landlords have to spring for more of the costs than they do in the UK, for example.
I'm not sure it came across earlier but this apartment is rundown. It really needs repairs.

For some reason I do not understand the new real estate agent has convinced the owner this place is worth $380-$400/week which is the rate for apartments in very good condition.

If we left now I don't think the owner would get what he's charging us and if he wanted that amount he'd have to patch up cracks, put in range hood, flyscreen/security screen door, replace cupboards, replace carpet or remove, repaint. It adds up.

This was my point. It is what it is. We cannot move. Hopefully not much longer and I can head back to Sydney. It appears as if my company will allow me to work from Sydney with no need to be in Brisbane but that's not official yet.

Look around John, perhaps you'll find something at an in-between price that is superior to what you have.

Gaming? I think you misunderstand.

I own apartment in Sydney that I rent out and keep rents reasonable because I value my tenants more than a few dollars extra.

I work in Brisbane and I rent with my wife and daughter.

I'm not sure why you think I'm gaming anything. The biggest mistake I made was not buying an apartment in Brisbane in 2008 when prices were reasonable and not now where both purchase price and rent are influenced by foreign investment.

I get cheesed off with people putting the airport code only. Why not add the full name as well, so that dummies like me don't have to look it up?

Or am I being unreasonable?

I work in a world of TLAs (three-letter acronyms) so it's water off the proverbial duck to me

WCMO when it's 15mins after check in time and room is still not ready.

I arrived 4 hours before check in store luggage, have to kill time when all I want is a shower, come back room still not ready. Try to offer me a lesser room than I booked ( no view, connecting which means kids noise) no, just clean my room please.

You have put the full name which is what I was after, so thumbs up!

Maybe a thread stating which 3 letter acronyms that one has actually visited.

"Showing 1 to 100 of 1,578 entries", that is a hell of a lot to remember, for me anyway.

Although that list doesn't seem to be complete, it's missing IXL for starters, an airport I have visited. :)

People who block the entrance to lifts assuming that no one is in the lift when it arrives and then barely move to get out of the way. At times like this I have a little spell of imbalance and sadly might knock into them.

A bit precious (like me on this topic) but not unreasonable. If one of the world's major transport hubs then I am happy with the airport code. If somewhere that few of us might ever go to like Timbuktu TOM, then yes, why not write the name and code.

Not doing research! Bought a Canon RF 70-200 f/2.8 lens, thought if I got a 2 times extender that would be very useful, rather than buying a longer lens and added weight.
The 2x extender arrived and it doesn't fit all RF lenses, I can use it on a f/2.8 400mm lens if I want to shell out $17,000 for one.
Not the first time I have done something stupid like this!
Will have to enquire about sending it back and paying restocking fees, etc.

I've bought adaptors from a mob in US called Fotodiox, albeit when the the exchange rate was 110.

Edit: Canon RF Adapters

On hold for 90 minutes on RBWH appointment line trying to tell them wife cannot attend Urology appointment today. Still haven't been answered.

Why is this a problem in most businesses? Have enough staff on board to take calls. Very simple. How many people are calling for me to be waiting this long? Unbelievable.
