What cheeses me off

Our small mortgage is fully offset by our personal money in the bank. So we pay no interest. And we are thousands ahead of the schedule of paying off the capital . But NAB keeps upping how much we have to pay monthly! I should just pay it off amd be done with them but can't quite pull that trigger.
My financial advisor recently suggested that, with the interest rates continuing to rise on mortgages, I should pay off all but $1 or so. That keeps the loan alive in case of the need for a redraw for an emergency, but doesn't cost anything to keep it going.

I've cleaned park bbqs like that numerous times with no problem. Newspaper and water. The trick is get them hot, then pour on the water, then scrub with newspaper.

Judging by all the water in the third picture, I assume you didn't use heat...
Definitely used heat. Definitely used buckets of water. Definitely scrubbed hard.

The gunk was dry and hard. I did my best under the circumstances.

I'll have to remember newspaper next time.

We always take kitchen scourer and small bottle of detergent with us in case someone leaves in bad state and you ensure we don't leave in bad state.

If no newspaper, use some scrunched up aluminium foil.

$4 is about 1 minute of my time, I wouldn't even bother dialling.
Agreed. So businesses basically lie and get away with it because people won't waste time chasing up what is an obvious attempt of theft?

September 2021 ordered 3 x right handed golf gloves. Not right handed golf gloves but gloves for a right handed golfer. I'm left handed. So I ordered another 3 x left handed golf gloves. Paid $27 twice.

I tried returning the wrong golf gloves 3-4 times. I called. I sent email with photos of golf gloves in perfect condition. Each time I was passed on to someone else. Each time the email trail ended. Same again next time.

I'm now stuck with golf gloves I cannot use. I wrote off the $27 but something is boiling inside and I cannot let it sit. Bring back physical stores and enough of this perceived convenience.

There are still physical stores. It's entirely your choice as to those you patronise.

Of course there are some physical stores but surely that doesn't excuse online stores from providing any sort of customer service?

Yes, I do agree with you on that. They should provide decent customer service (but often they don't).

Not sure how it will come up on statement but may make the credit better to use on trips that can be reimbursed

Also when the Yanks say "I could care less" when they mean "I couldn't care less."

Along that same vein, use of the phrase "lucked out". In North America it is almost always means good luck. In Australia I I had the sense that it traditionally meant bad luck, but of course that is changing due to influences from elsewhere ...

Interesting ... I've only ever heard it used, and almost entirely by Americans, in the American fashion.

Or maybe I have heard it & assumed they meant the opposite. :)

I really didn't expect a flippant comment about the plural of "lego" to be taken so seriously.
Seriousness about a jocular and jovial comment gets close to cheesing me off...

Well actually, "I could care less" means that there are plenty of things they have fewer concerns about ... it means they actually do care quite a bit. "I could care more" implies they don't care a huge amount.
yeah nah, "could care less" is qualitative not quantitative

sorry to say, if I have to clean a public BBQ before use, I will leave my mess for the next person. Goes around comes around.
Hygienically, I also think public BBQs should always be cleaned regardless of appearance. Who knows what A-holic thing kids drinking in the park at night might do.

In the case of a sim, I might have just purchased the starter discount again with a new number and cancelled the ongoing.
I know nothing about golf...
And I can't really follow the error, did you mean to write that you ordered left hand gloves and got sent right hand ones???
A left handed golfer wears a glove on the right hand and vice versa. So you order gloves for the right hand, but got sent gloves for the left hand because that's what a right handed golfer would wear?????????????
too confused.
Not only does it ruin a good walk, it breaks my brain.

But the example is a bit grey for mine, you got what you ordered in one respect, even if it wasn't what you expected.

Very common on Flyertalk, comments like this

Well people lucked out on my E170 flight from DET to EWR. F/A needed four people from the back to move to E+ for weigh and balance. The amazing part is she had to pick them because no one in the back wanted to move forward.

After looking for an award seat in F for months leaving from SFO or LAX, I finally scored by also have them look at New York area departures and lucked out. It does however add 8 hours flight time and an additional stop to my trip (SFO - JFK - FRA - SIN - SGN instead of SFO - HKG - SIN - SGN). At least I will be "suffering" in F.

You lucked out today moonunit so congrats!

But have also seen alternative usage by someone who was either a pom or a kiwi:
I'm looking to tavel SQ to LON-SIN-AKL-SIN-AKL in April and was getting ready to book by my preferred flight AKL-SIN (SQ286 at 14.15 April 17) won't come up anymore. n itn.net it shows all the economy classes as zero availability.

How should I read this: do they stagger the release of seats or have I lucked out - is the plane full as I fear?
