What did you buy that's not living its best life right now?

I purchased a new small backpack a few days after returning from Bangkok in March after spending ¾ hour restitching 10cm of zipper on my old one in my hotel.

It was the 4th zipper I'd restitched on the 5year old backpack in the last six months; I also use it for work.

The thing I bought still has it's labels attached. :(

I left my dilapidated ski goggles behind in Austria in January. They'd served me well for several seasons, but were finally falling apart. Bought a pair of new retro ski goggles straight after the trip to be used for the next adventure.

Before the 'rona I managed to snag FF seats for the whole family SYD - NRT - HEL for a bucket list ski trip to Lapland in December 2020. At this stage the trip is looking very unlikely to go ahead, but I have not yet cancelled the award seats, so who knows...

This was the plan:
Was that Levi resort by any chance? Looking at that for Feb 2021 ...

Do three fully paid for escorted tours, 12 flights, 4 hotel stays (oh and two hats for the desert) count? Lucky most have been refunded (minus any fees) after some negotiation (not the hats, kept them 😂).

Usually travelling to multiple destinations in different seasons each year means there is a cupboard full of stuff to dip into, mix and match for any trip and little to buy. Warm clothes, cool clothes, mix and match outfits & jackets, thermals etc, big medium and small suitcases, multiple wet packs etc.

The main things that have been used daily in the last 7-8 weeks of self isolation at home life are not very trendy shorts, t-shirt, tracky daks and sneakers 🙄 :(

No new luggage staring at me but there was supposed to be one.

Bought a new American Tourister online at Myer during the 29 Feb sale. They sent me a medium size when I ordered a large. Returned it and they resent a medium again! Took it back to get a refund. Turns out the barcode and the item description didn't match, hence why they kept sending the wrong one.

So not buying another luggage for the time being.

My caravan...which was supposed to be on the road somewhere north right now, but is sadly gathering leaves in my drive.
Our neighbours set off in their caravan yesterday, first day they were allowed to do so, to travel into the western part of SA.

But what if my item is living a good life at the moment? I've bought a mid layer jacket for my ski trip at the end of the year to the USA and Canada (unlikely to go ahead). Hopefully I will get to use it at Falls Creek in a few months. I bought it from Sweden and it is having a great holiday! So far it's been to Copenhagen, Cologne, Paris, Memphis and is now relaxing in Honolulu! Not sure where else it is planning on going before it heads home 😆

I bought a new camera (EOS RP) at the end of last year to capture my journeys and a new case (Pelican Air 1535) at the start of this year to store it in, however I did get to use them both for a short trip to Vietnam in early March and I was very happy with them. I was hoping to use them far more extensively through Europe though.

A new Kindle to replace my elderly one with limited memory. I can read 2 books a week so packing for o/s meant a heap of books - I get twitchy if I haven't got at least 4. New one arrived & I'm halfway through latest release of one of my favourite authors. I put it on the floor instead of bedside table Got up for a comfort break in the night and it was indeed a break as I trod on the Kindle. Amazon are having a sale on them till the end of May fortunately. Such an annoying waste of money though

New packing cubes (a fan for years) and a Pacsafe Crossbody bag that were headed to Spain tomorrow - looking forward to the crowds then, now just worried they won't ever see the sights and sounds of Barcelona

What did you buy for your trip (that you should be currently on, should be packing for) thats now sitting in the corner or cupboard unused and sad? Bag, clothing, camera or Bellroy?

Mine was new luggage. Ive tried them all, hard case, soft case, split bag, 4 wheel, 2 wheel, cargo and duffle and this was what I bought for our Africa trip, because I do all the packing and in the end dont worry about breakages, just want everything including the kitchen sink my husband demands packed.

And now its sitting in the corner, staring at me, with its shiny new black platinum tag and TSA lock, wondering when it can be out there, with a J SQ tag and living its best life... in Africa.

So what was your purchase?

I Like your thread !!

Also, like the look of your soft bag.
What is it and where did you buy it?

I’m just dreaming of my holiday.... was to leave for a Europe, in 2 weeks. Highlight was going to be a 7 day Croatian cruise. Been looking forward to that for years. Sadly, will now be a few more....

Maps. Two lots. Intended to hire a car and I also like to have a good old fashion paper map. One map was for our Kangaroo Island holiday in April and the other two were for our Northern Queensland holiday for July.

25000 topup QFF points in order to secure our last flight home SIN_SYD - the flight is refundable, the points purchased to secure it are not.

I'm in a similar predicament. I spent around $1,000 on Etihad Guest miles which I redeemed for a couple of J flights. The flights are now cancelled and the miles refunded, but I'm not going to get the $1,000 back! Hopefully I can still use the miles for something down the track...
