What I ate today - the food thread

Our next door neighbours, who are from Indonesia, are celebrating Hari Raya Puasa today. They have had their celebratory Eid feast and have just bought us over some lovely food. We were going to have some very undistinguished kebabs for our evening meal - they have gone back into the freezer.

They have given us some Beef Curry, Chicken Curry in Coconut Sauce, Vegetables in a sour, probably Tamarind, sauce and Ketupat. The Beef Curry has a real 'bite'. We just need to cook up a few more vegies. They may be leftovers but it is nice that they thought of us - and yummie.

Looks ok ..... as I said on the other thread .. more misses than hits for us.. c'est la vie

OT .. but after two recent visits to the Tuscan terrace at Sirromet, Mt Cotton.. we are out.. done and dusted….
We have given The Tuscan Terrace at least 10 last chances, including 2020 Staff Xmas Party. Completely over it. Done. Finished. Never again

Sirromet had a golden period with Andrew Mirosch in charge , sad to see it fall in a heap..

It’s just too embarrassing to take guests there anymore. It used to be a real treat, being minutes down the road from us, but it’s been hit and miss for many years.

Lunch at Barchetta on Cottesloe Beach, WA with a client.

Pictures tell a thousand words because that’s how many I could type about our meals. Superb, full punchy flavour in my seafood curry. I’ll eat that again if it’s on the menu.

There were other pages on the menu but both our meals were on this page.

Thai Seafood Curry. Fragrant it certainly was, crispy vegetables and the curry was delightful. Could have eaten it again

My client had the Spaghettini - he added Parmesan cheese to it subsequent to my photo.

Barchetta's not a bad spot. It kind of looks only like a coffee cafe from the outside, but comes up trumps with food.

But you omitted a PERfect wintry-day pic from the Gents. 😜

The sun was out today after a cool and cloudy start. A PERfect afternoon for a 5-click run on the sand beaten firm by the cold-front waves, followed by doing brief battle with the subsiding-swell dumpers at City Beach this afternoon.

As I mentioned in the The view from my "Office" thread we went to Masonmill Gardens and Restaurant in the hills of Perth yesterday.

My steak - served on an extremely hot "Lava Stone" to be cooked to your own liking. It certainly cooked easily and was very tender. Served with Garlic Butter, Pepper Sauce and Mushroom Sauce. The red drink is Sparkling Rose -ade made from their own roses.

Afterwards we went to one of the others house and had some cakes. Pandan cake nearest to the camera. Then Orange Semolina Cake, Double Chocolate Fudge, Coconut and Native Lime Fruit Cake and Baked Ricotta Cheesecake. The Cane basket contained the teapot being kept warm in a padded insert.
