Quick and delicious Wonton noodle soup @ the BKK CX Lounge

Apologies for going the 'wrong way' for this thread, but perhaps the world's biggest chocolate donut is in Isfahan ( We only inhaled, I promise)

For actual dinner, a very nice lamb kebab, fesh OJ, preceded by bread and seriously good olives in a tapenade:

Big dinner out tonight at the Abbasi Hotel, best in Isfahan. It cost an outrageous 800,000 rials (er, about A$27, including Iran's best ice cream which itself accounted for A$4.50 ).

Swish entrance to the restaurant:

We were early, as usual:

I started off with a frothie: 'Bavaria', % baddies, from Holland - actually, not bad, considering (it had hops - most of the 'malted beverages' here don't.) ..

Main course, mixed kebabs, with rice. Much better than its plain appearance:

Dessert - high quality Iranian ice cream (rosewater flavoured, with pistachios). Iran is the world's largest grower of Pistachios. Totally yum.

Then we decamped to a coffee shop, but didn't have to puzzle over the menu, as the owner had pretty fluent English. The numbers, on the left of each column are in thousands of tomen. A tomen = 10 rials.

My latte (mysteriously, upside down :( ). All in all a good night out.

Lunch today at my favourite haunt - delicious!

Back in Tehran... went to café near the hotel for dinner; I ordered a dish described as 'meatball'

IMG_6419.JPG

Basically rice, lentils, corn with a sauce covering. OK, but meat-free.

The mojito was nice:

But! On the walk back to the hotel, we went via a cake shop that one of the party had discovered earlier :)
