What I ate today - the food thread

I think there was a recipe thread started after a discussion on Brussel sprouts. Why is there always such a heated discussion on them. I personally can't eat them but that's just me. Unfortunately I feel that way about most vegetables.

Bodega El Capricho - best steak in the world according to The Telegraph.

Love to see a Trip Report on this one (well, any of yours, really!). Give it a go?

Are you going to Salamanca? Tip : Doctrinos. And any of the Gin & Tonic bars!

Of course, the BEST jamón ibérico comes from that area.

Thanks for the VOC but too busy enjoying ourselves to do a TR. Maybe when we get back.

No Salamanca on this trip. Did that on way to the Douro last year. Fantastic town.

This trip, London to finish QF DSC promo (Richmond, Petersham Nursery, River Cafe, and friends), Bilbao (Azurmendi), San Sebastián (Akelare ), Logrońo and La Rioja (wine, Venta Moncavallo and El Capricho), León (Parador), Cangas del Nacea (Corias Parador), Santiago de Compostela (Parador and wine), Porto (cause it's on the way and use up an IC Ambassador we night), Pinhão (wine, river), Monterrei (Parador), Valladolid (castle stay and wine), Toledo (culture I suppose), Madrid and home.

Ouch!

I hope you are back on your feet soon.

You know me. I’ll be back stronger and fighting harder than ever before. Just watch out for anyone who tries to get in my way!

Currently in the Air China first lounge in Beijing. Arrived after having had no breakfast or lunch so we were feeling a bit peckish. They had some lovely pork and beef dishes. I proceeded to get a plate for hubby as he had to check emails. Went back up for mine and was blocked by one of the staff pointing to her watch and saying no. She would not let me touch the food as it was 2 o’clock and food is only till 2. I said are you serious I just took my husbands plate over. She still refused to let me take any food and it was all quickly taken away and she pointed to apples and a packet of crackers lol. Unbelievable . Only in China lol. Flights got not for another 2 hours.

"Lechazo da Aranda Asado en Horno de leño - Selección Florencio"

At Asador Casa Florencio in Aranda de Douro, Valladolid provence, Spain. Lunch. Milk-fed suckling baby lamb cooked in wood fired oven... Yum. With traditional tomato salad. A starter of white asparagus and mayonnaise.

Decadent dinner - scrambled free range eggs (in a pot with a bit of organic butter) finished with some truffle pecorino. It's a piquant and nutty and delicious cheese and takes scrambled eggs to next level.

All that went with it was some roasted cherry tomatoes.
