What I ate today - the food thread

Not a great photo but an epic pizza!

And especially good tip for those in the White Bay Area in Sydney before or after a cruise as it is right near where the cruise ships berth. Rosso Pomodoro in Balmain.

This was a special - prosciutto, fresh fig on a mozzarella base.

Not too fancy, but a bit of salmon in the back deck bar.
Miso, ginger, soy and rice wine.
We don’t eat out too much these days (pesky kids ;)) but try make the best of it at home.
Served with rice and stir fried veggies (no pic of plated product, sorry)
Nice.

The sweet selection we shared.

I have never run across some of these before. Opening this bamboo wrapped one was a fun exercise. It is a pandan flavour kueh and is a traditional treat apparently not often seen even here much nowadays. Obviously a lot of work to make it.

Wajid Temburong. Another local delicacy. Brown, sticky rice and Gulah Malaka plus some flavourings.

In the only large mall in Bandarr.

Rojak Sotong (Fruit & vegetable salad with a spicy palm sugar, chilli and peanut sauce plus Squid) cost about $4.15.

Chicken Ayam. My wife accidentally ordered two meals, however they only cost about $6.20 in total - with the bandung syrup in water included. The white bundles contain rice, the yellow tub is dahl, the black mixture is soy & chilli and the other tub contained ordinary gravy - talk about a mixture of food origins.

Did not take photos as it would’ve been a bit pretentious for our dinner guests (old and dear friends) but I did try out the new kitchen last night. An amuse bouche of blue cheese and a maple glazed chicken morsel, brodo with clam, monkfish, lobster and tarragon pesto, confit duck with pickled cherry, individual Eton mess with raspberry ice cream, cheese.
Champagne and we opened the Grange so all in all it was a good night. :)
Still waiting on the mirror splash back though so had to be very careful.

I have so much admiration for these people and what they are doing. Anyone coming to this part of the world, it's a much visit imo.

Cheese platter, feta, marinated feta, blue cheese, yoghurt and ricotta and mozzarella with home grown tomato, all very tasty but my favourite was the mozzarella, in fact it was as good as any mozzarella I've had.

They have recently sent 2 tonne of cheese to Japan via refrigerated container, as well as sending cheese down to Vientiane by plane. This year has been hard, apparently tourists to L.P. have been down 20 to 30 percent this high season.
