What I ate today - the food thread

I have so much admiration for these people and what they are doing. Anyone coming to this part of the world, it's a much visit imo.

Buffalo Dairy, Luang Prabang, Laos. Laos Buffalo DairyLaos Buffalo Dairy

Cheese platter, feta, marinated feta, blue cheese, yoghurt and ricotta and mozzarella with home grown tomato, all very tasty but my favourite was the mozzarella, in fact it was as good as any mozzarella I've had.

They have recently sent 2 tonne of cheese to Japan via refrigerated container, as well as sending cheese down to Vientiane by plane. This year has been hard, apparently tourists to L.P. have been down 20 to 30 percent this high season.
I think you have visited the dairy before(?). It sounds great and they seem to be going well even though their tourist visitor numbers are down.

Yes, we went there last year as well, they are doing so much good for the local villages, and there isn't any 'aid' as such, from NGO's and the like. There was an article in the SMH/Age travel section last year.

Two crazy farangs open buffalo dairy in Laos

They need Will Studd to film an episode of Cheese Slices here!

Wow! Is that meatloaf wrapped in bacon? That looks amazing. Is the blackness at the end just the bacon or is there flavouring on the bacon.

Yes, I wrapped it in bacon then smoked it in a Weber kettle. I glazed it with sweet baby rays bbq sauce but did it to early, and it went way too dark - looks burnt and not very attractive- but didn’t taste burnt.
