Mrsdrron had the Osso Buco.

And I had the half rack BBQ pork ribs with spicy chicken wings.

Good simple club food at a decent price.

So Wednesday's lunner. Booked for 3pm as lunches are busy and parking spots at a premium. at just before 3 pm we parked at the front door.
Tziki Bar at Forest Glen. Good Greek food. Began by sharing Greek lamb ribs, grilled haloumi, roast cauliflower salad, calamari and some hummus with pita bread.

We then shared a main dish - slow roasted lamb shoulder on Greek potatoes. It was melt in your mouth good. Forgot to take a picture.
Recommended if you are in the area.

Thursday's Lunner. Bocca At Bokarina beach. Very popular and nearly half full when we arrived at 3pm. They had a winter truffle men u.
IMG_0673.jpg

We started off with the truffled mushrooms this is an everyday item and doesn't have fresh truffles. We also had chargrilled eggplant, marinated octopus and a garlic and rosemary bread.

It is a bit on the expensive side but we think it is worth it. The menu.

We’re in Brisbane for a few nights mainly to see a show but also to try out a few reastaurants. As suggested by @TheRealTMA our first night was at Rich and Rare in Westend. They have choices of A La Carte or various banquets. We ended up going with the $75 pp which was way too much food for us and could have fed three people!

The bone marrow butter was delicious but the olives were way too salty for me. I love olives but the saltiness masked the taste of the olives.

IMG_5321.jpeg

Next course scallops and beef tartare. Both delicious (scallops especially).

IMG_5322.jpeg

Then the piece de resistance…the 700 gm rib eye with chips and lettuce salad (the salad was a bit average). All washed down with a nice bottle of Langmeil Shiraz.

Yummo. I do like their cos lettuce plate.

You could also try the “new” Supernormal at top of Queen street.. getting good reviews. Haven’t been myself yet.

Had a few mates from my student days over for lunch.
Mr Flyfrequently excelled with his crispy pork belly

Stella restaurant in Bulimba. $99 free flow lunch!

IMG_5352.jpeg

Aperol Spritz to start.

IMG_5351.jpeg
Followed by bread and olives

IMG_5356.jpeg

Starters were the Beef Carpaccio, Rocket, Parmesan and Citronette and the Salt and Pepper Calamari.

IMG_5619.jpeg
IMG_5357.jpeg

And then mains of King Prawn Spaghetti and Mezzemaniche Sausage Porcini

IMG_5359.jpegIMG_5620.jpeg

This was Friday lunch time and the restaurant was quiet, so service was very good. Staff were pro active with the drinks and we managed to consume a few spritzers and a couple of red wines! They even gave us a break between starters and main so we could relax a little. Food was good (and plenty of it) but I thought the pasta dishes overall were a bit bland, although the king prawns themselves were delicious. We certainly got our moneys worth though.

A week or so back I posted a pic of a pizza from a place called Slice Slice Baby in Whitianga, New Zealand.

It was prawn and chorizo with pesto aioli. Here the pic again as a reminder:

IMG_4089.jpeg
It was delicious and now that I’m home I decided to give it a go myself.

For mine I went for regular aioli, but added spring onions.

Served with a 2012 Wynns Black Label Cabernet Sauvignon.

I’m biased of course, but mine was better. 😉
