OK, poll restarted with more options and multi choice.

For Example, I am WP, LTG and Suspended QP.

Couldn't squeeze PG in, I suggest those who few on this forum who are select Gold.

Got me in a good year. The exalted heights of Silver.Come November it will be back to Bronze.

OK, changed vote to:

Platinum Extra (current level and will requal in 2 weeks, 3 months into my year!)
Qantas Club (currently suspended, unlikely to ever get that money back ...)
LTS (6980 lifetime SCs, will be 8000 in 2 weeks).

Platinum... but based on the results so far am feeling common as muck.

(40% are WP)

I'm sorry but I think the original point of the poll has been lost. Isn't the idea to get a feel for the number of people in the basic categories. If the statistics weren't good before they are going to be absolute rubbish now due to the multiple voting options. LTS or PS is all silver. WP and LTS, well only the WP is relevant for this point in time snapshot. But will have LTS and PG/LTS number combined, somehow do we separate out the LTS only to get a proper snapshot. Not possible really.

Selected Plat Extra (took 50k at last point, won't make it this time), LTG (will make mid March) and QP (have 6 mths left from 2006 when I first made Plat on a 20 segment paper ticketed DONE4 experience CMB)

Suggestion for yet one more category.

Bronze with OW partner elite status (ie lounge access)

There are a few of us in that category around.

Happy wandering

Fred

Plat, LTS.

May get LTG this year however, have voted LTS as its not a certainty - still have 2000 SC to go.

Absolutely agree. What started out as an interesting attempt to get a snapshot of the status of contributors seems now to have become an exercise in egostroking !

When I saw the title I was expecting 'Plat, Gold, Silver, Bronze' as choices (maybe with CL and QP thrown in, though TBH both could have easily been left out for clarity). After all, QP is not a 'status' - and I say this as someone with suspended QP membership - and CL is usually (not always) handed out based on criteria other than flying.

Nice idea Sam, would have made interesting reading, despite the obvious 'bias' you alluded to in the OP about this community being weighted towards the higher status levels. Obviously some changes have been made to the poll categories since the thread was started. But I have 'voted' anyway. :)

I think its valid.
First 6 categories give a break of current flying status... (and within that a breakdown of Plat)

Then remainder QP/CL/LTG/LTS give a rundown of other status.
Only thing that may have been good would be QP (Paid and using) versus QP (on suspension/ superfluous - ie LTG)

I came back to this thread and thought WTF, but it turns out this poll much better takes a snapshot, of course assuming that all members respond honestly and don’t tick every box. I think the community is capable of that.

Thanks for making a better poll than I could have done.

I chose Platinum and Qantas Club as I have about 15 months suspended.

The original options were NB, PS, SG, WP, P1, CL, CLP1 ;)

The problem I see is the LTS/LTG are both current flying status and other status. The number of people in those categories are obscured and there was really no need to include those groups separately.

Methinx you're obfuscating.

As pointed out by moa999 in the post your referred to, the first 6 categories are mutually exclusive and an honest voter would only have one response entered in these. A LTG (or LTS) using that status currently should put an entry for both SG (or PS) and LTG (or LTS).

As such, they can give the breakdown the OP was after.

Not at all. LTS and LTG are also mutually exclusive with the first 6 categories for some people. For other people they are not mutually exclusive. Hence creating a cross over of results with no way to resolve the various groups for LTS and LTG. This confuses the numbers even more and prevents giving the breakdown.

I referred to that post precisely because it is not correct to think there are 2 distinct groups, LTS and LTG are subsets of both groups mentioned by moa999.

Gold here, but will be Platinum at end of March after flying to Melbourne for round 1 of the AFL.
Selected Gold before I read about future travel bit :)
Ditto - gold currently but will be platinum (for the first time ever!) after an AONE4 in June/July.

I don't think I can vote more than once but have 4 other family members with the following stats, if anyone wants to add them

Mr FM gold (becoming WP in July) with suspended QP membership
Dr FM silver with QP Life
Master FM bronze with QP Life
Miss FM silver (becoming WP in July)

Votes seem to have treated first 6 as mutually exclusive. As of now - 115 votes, first six add to 115.
Interesting 3 CLs - more than I expected. put very emerald heavy.

You mean it is just a lucky coincidence that everyone who has voted so far with LT status also has a different earned status level. Anyway the mutual exclusivity of the first 6 options was never at question it was the fact that the LT levels are a subset of the status levels as well as extras.

OK.
So it should have read.
Pick ONE of the first six options that represents your current 'flying' status, ie. the one printed on your boarding pass. Please choose Platinum Extra instead of Platinum if you have passed 2400 SCs in your current year.
Also pick ANY of the other options if they apply, but only one of LTG/LTS.

If I was LTG and relying on that status I would have picked Gold/LTG

Which is precisely what the first poll did, by focusing solely on the representative flying status.

Also pick ANY of the other options if they apply, but only one of LTG/LTS.

No need for that as they are nursing exclusive. [and also mutually exclusive with the first 6 options for anyone holding LT status only]

If I was LTG and relying on that status I would have picked Gold/LTG

why? If you're LTG only then, surely you would pick LTG.
