What's your prediction on the Australian Dollar?

My prediction is that the aussie dollar will continue to go up and down for no particular reason so that banks, traders etc. can continue to make profits with little or no risk.

I'm off to Europe and the US next month and paid for all flights, trains, a cruise and 2/3 of our accommodation while our dollar was high.
I'll just have to suck up the rate now and enjoy the holiday knowing I got great value out of many of our bookings;).

I'm heading over to the LOTFAP for x-mas.......anything over 0.80c - I count as a bonus.

I accept full blame for the current fall. I've been deferring currency purchases for an upcoming N. America trip in the expectation that it "can't go below 90". Why I have done so is inexplicable - I was burnt by similar circumstances a few years ago.

Mea culpa. :(

I always considered the Aussies' "parity-and-above" status as a treat to be enjoyed while it lasted, and figure that around 85-90 is the 'real' rate. If it dropped below 85 I would be p*ssed off, as it is I am still annoyed of course that it has slipped under 90, but I always thought it would come to land in the 85-90 range. That's why I bought up plenty of US a few months ago in readiness for my end of year trip, I figure that we won't even see parity for some time now.

FWIW > it's got some downward pressure still to come, settling in at a mid term 77-80c range aligned with lower commodity prices and continued US recovery.

I have been hearing from many builders and tradesmen are struggling to find work. So that means rates will probably come down even more and thus the aussie dollar. AGood if you need to do renovations or need to buy a house.

Every year we travel with friends from Florida for 5 or 6 weeks.
When I told them what the acronym meant they were gob-smacked!
