What's your prediction on the Australian Dollar?

Meanwhile the Aussie dollar has rallied over 0.82 at the end of the week.

It's done that before, so don't get your hopes up (or down, as the case may be.)

I don't know whether this has been pointed out before, but the thread title contains the words "prediction" and "Australian Dollar", thereby constituting any oxymoron of the first order!

Seems Swiss Franc rallied o/n also:

We saw an historic night as the CHF rallied more than 25% after the Swiss National Bank capitulated and admitted it was no longer able to stop the CHF’s appreciation. The Swiss National Bank has spent the last three years trying to cap the Swiss franc’s gains as worries about Europe saw investors shift from the EUR into the CHF. The CHF rallied more than 25% in minutes after the news, and the AUDCHF traded at its lowest level since 2011 in yet another sign of the high levels of volatility seen as the new year commences.

We bought at .8240 so that encouraged buying up to a high of .8295 last night just to make us feel.......

If Australia loses in this currency wars our currency will rise. Our higher interest rates have kept our currency from dropping sharply.

We aren't as desperate for a devaluation as Europe or the US so we probably will 'lose' the currency war...?

The US issued 4.5 trillion dollars with their Quantitative Easing programs to keep their currency low.

AUD to hover in the seventies all year against the USD. But against the important currency, NZD, slowly creep towards parity by years end.

After three weeks in NZ I can report that it IS at parity effectively. Once the banks rip you off with their rates on the cards then charge a "currency conversion charge" what I'm seeing is parity on my statements. This sucks!

Fuel over there has barely fallen. I guess 20c is something in a couple of weeks but it's so much dearer than here now. Was $1.92.9 on arrival and $1.72.9 on departure. Diesel is still about 60c a litre cheaper - why are there no diesel rental cars I wonder?

australia seems to be the ONLY country in the world where diesel is more expensive than unleaded ... really weird
