What's your prediction on the Australian Dollar?

I think we can get tickets to the cricket in July for the test match in the old country.
We really need to get hold of those Ashes even though the English love having the bragging rights.

And after this summer as pup settles down we will also be ready to assume our customary superior leadership of the sport.

And to think the Barmy army used to merrily chant '3 to 1' '3 to 1' in an economically superior tone to us a few years ago when on tour and in form!!!

Yeah I remember when they use to chant "3 dollars to the pound"... But now the pound has crashed, we get less chav poms that afford to holiday and settle in OZ. :p

For those who like to try and pay for their travel when the AUD is trading higher can I suggest that the Aussie is expected to hit a high against the $USD at the beginning of Feb before retreating. Another high is showing for late September. Modelling also suggests the AUD will continue to appreciate against the €. Also of interest is that there are no high probability low zones for the AUD this year.

I am NOT suggesting you rush out and start trading the Aussie - just that you might get the best value you're likely to see over the next 6 months or so in a week or two's time.

I have been overseas a number times over AUG/SEP and noticed the Aussie has appreciated each time. Not sure why, but a few theories abound. One that is traders in the Northern hemisphere are on holidays.

AUD appears to be edging up towards 1.05 USD even though the USD has been stronger against the Euro in recent weeks.

Old Bliighty is getting cheaper by the minute. Mrscove wants me to buy pounds when we hit 0.70....gee that makes English prices so very reasonable and Australian prices look pretty high.

Doesn't take much of anything to make Australian prices look high!

It will both rise and fall!!!

The dollar is calculable as a forward delivery based on int rates futures.

I think we are just now adjusting to a high dollar environment after two years.

Look at the price of the new A Class Merc and Holdens decision to slash the price on the new commodore as examples

I seem to recall a visit where I was getting about 32 pence to the dollar about ten years ago! And they wonder why there are 2 million more visits out of Australia compared to inward travels. It's hard to imagine it will ever be this good or better in 5 years time.

Soros made 60 million on the Aussie but he had to bet 1 Billion dollars in the process. Experts don't see for the near future the Aussie Dropping. Probably because we are the de-facto currency for the Chinese who peg their currency to make it artificially low.

Experts in the currency market often work for someone, which is why they often get it wrong, dollar down to $1.01 today.
