NFI why estimates were so high - that was strange as never should be that high

Overall my experience has been ok except 1 incident where Sydney Airport to home was estimated at $151. There was no traffic so we reached out quite early and the fare should have been around $120. I was still charged $151.

When I raised a request with Uber, they advised they advised that I will be charged the original estimated price even if I reach my destination earlier which was quite absurd.

Yes Uber is now doing fix pricing unless it’s higher. Absurd to say the least.

Sort of. If they quote you a fare that includes tolls and you end up taking a route without tolls, they reduce the amount charged by the value fo the tolls.

Which really should be called floor pricing. I.e. there's a minimum you'll pay, but you may pay more.

Had the same experience with Ola which was a real turn off. They couched it as an estimate when I booked - but when the trip was done 20 min faster than the estimate, my invoice had an "Adjustment fee" of ~$15 making up the difference between the actual costs and the original estimate.

I can't work it out with them. I keep taking the forecast route, without tolls and without any delays, and quickly, and yet still get a notice saying my fare has changed with the amount bumped up by a dollar or so, and no explanation (it says see this link for details, but then it just gives you standard text about needing to include tolls and so on).

Interesting, l almost always (5 out of last 7 trips) get the below message on my receipts

and it is usally because i direct the driver a faster way or have them avoid toll roads that offer no benefit time wise.

Both getting out of hand when trying to make decisions

Great ride with Uber driver from Ernakulam (Cochin) to Cochin airport last week. Only 648 rupees, and he didn't sound his horn once! (Which is remarkable for India.)

So im DIamond Uber Rewards, one of the benefits is capped pricing for your favourite route (you nominate two destinations i.e. home and work). I went to register a while ago but felt the cap seemed high compared to usual charge so held off.

Well this morning it was bucketing torrential rain and of coruse I was running super late and there was surge pricing in place. So I registered for the favourite route and immeditaly was able to save $15!

If you havent registered for uber rewards, make sure you do (can only be done vai the app). I regularly get offers for 15% off all rides for next 3 days; have earned about 1000 QFF (plus extra earn for airport rides) since its Nov launch.

For anyone interested in didi, it's finally about to launch in Sydney. Date isn't released yet, but looks to be about 6 weeks away.

Overall my uber experiences have been mostly positive, especially in contrast with Sydney cabs. I've had the occasional creep or opinionated nutter but most drivers have been good. I don't love the pickup setup at Sydney Domestic.

Definitely keen on using Didi in Sydney, since the number of reviews here.

Found a link (below) which advises that Didi launch will happen in Sydney on the 16 March 2020, and are offering those who sign up before hand a generous 50% off their rides during the first four weeks of the launch.

Another ordinary Ola experience... why do I keep doing it to myself!

- Pickup from the Sydney southern suburbs (loaned my car to a friend) going to international. Vehicle is a Hyundai i30. It arrives and every single panel is smashed up, back bumper/front bumper/side mirror is held on with duct tape. I’d tell the guy to go but it took 18 minutes for him to arrive and I was in a hurry. Went to put my bag in the boot but it was totally full of tools and car parts. Suitcase rode on the front seat. Back seat was filthy but had a towel on it, window tint totally scratched up and all interior panels destroyed. Rubbish all through interior and it stank of petrol. Security staff at the airport actually commented that I smelled like gas! While driving away, my friend called laughing and said the muffler was dragging on the ground. She copped a serve for not driving me to the airport! No response from Ola.

If DiDi operating in your region it’s just a no- brainer 👍

Caught a ride from Sunbury Station to MEL the other day. Booked Didi when I was 5 mins out from the station and the driver was there to pick me up just as the train arrived. Worked well.

Didi .... $24
Uber .... $33-38
Ola .... $38- 42
478 bus .... $0 ( + 30 min wait for bus + 10 min longer journey + 10 min walk from busstop at MEL)

The 478 bus would have also cost me a single malt whisky and at least 2 champagnes in the EK lounge which I wouldn't have had time for 🤪

As an aside, how on earth is Ola still in business in Australia? Everytime I look at they seem to more expensive than Uber or Didi.

I booked an Uber last night and it said Person A in car ABC is coming in 2 minutes and then I looked down and it said Person B in car DEF is coming. That hasn't happened to me before. Person B arrived and all good

Overall, my uber experiences have been very positive as they are much much cleaner than the Cab's. Been using them just to earn points through Qantas. Also, I love the App tracking them on their way to pick me up.

For one thing, didi isn't in Sydney so Ola has been the value option against uberx.

Also, ola regularly carries discounts. Rather than lower prices, they give discount codes that offset the standard price so often work out cheaper.
