What's your Uber experience?

I know of some Uber-x drivers who also list on the regular Uber side of things. If Uber-x is quiet they at least get regular fares.
Yes, I’ve had the occasional Uber Black limo arrive. Once the driver was on his way to the airport anyway and I had a “5” rating. He was curious why. I don’t recall if I told him I’d not long signed up!

Yeah i quite often get hire cars who are doing uber to fill gaps in their bookings.

You are misunderstanding , its the taxi drivers phone with GPS off. I always have location services on if using an app that requires it. Taxi app is unreliable, whereas ive never had any issues seeing where driver is on uber.

I almost never use cash and have no desire to walk 35 mins to nearest taxi stand, when in less time i can get an uber to pick me up a few meters from my front door and drive me to office entrance.

No you are misunderstanding...any major towns Taxi Company (13CABS, B&W etc) have a dedicated computer/tablet dispatch thing wired into the cabs where the GPS cannot be disabled and it has NO relation at all to the drivers personal mobile phone. If you are calling a Taxi on a drivers personal mobile phone then the company (and therefore its App) knows nothing about it. Same as doing a Cashie in an Uber.

I have heard people say the 13CABS App is bad and others say its good.
I have heard people say the same about Ubers App.
Some like Qantas, some like Virgin....

In small one Taxi towns the driver may work off a personal mobile phone but doubt they would have an App if that is the case.

Of course you wouldnt walk 35 mins to a taxi rank, I was referring more to the airport or CBD areas where people wont walk a block or two to a rank but then complain they cant get service.

It certainly doesn't stay 5 for a very long time. There must be an algorithm that allocates the better cars to top users. Maybe there is a lurker out there that can provide some insight?

Especially if you use Uber in Sth Africa… We both got what must have been 1s for no apparent reason… Took years to get back to 4.9.

Likewise, was given a 2 (in Brisbane) I think because I queried why he was taking the toll road when uber's route was otherwise (toll @80kph no lights was almost same time but longer distance).
Was easy and accurate to calculate as it was the 8th trip (on a new a/c) and was 7 x 5* before.
I emailed uber, they did a small partial refund and said that they put a note on his file.

Disappointing as I'd always, always, given 5*, thinking that working for a rideshare they deserve it.

We even tipped every trip! When we were last in CPT, the average ride is something like A$2.63 (I kid you not). So a $1 or $2 tip seemed pretty generous!

Not Uber but Ola.
There doesn't seem to be a way to tip more than $2.50. The driver that picked us up the other day was certainly 10/10 and I wanted to tip $5.00
We were going to cross the road when he arrived but he insisted on doing a u turn.
On arrival at our destination (a club) we were happy to be dropped at the kerb but he insisted that he drive through the car park and drop us right at the door because it was very hot (in ADL). The car park was a bit of a nightmare being NYE but our driver was very patient, probably adding 5 or so minutes to the job.
If only all ride share drivers were this good.

Interestingly I just reviewed my ratings and funny though I have 2 1-star ratings. I am surprised as I am always pleasant and respectful to uber driver partners and generally have a word/two along the trip. I could only imagine being given a 1* when the driver cancelled the trip and I ask them why did they even accept the ride when they wanted to cancel.
