Will you miss the headphone jack? (iPhone 7 discussion)

Yes this is mentioned alot on the forums .......but I am sure there is a way around this. Because when docked to say ... speakers it's effectively charging while playing!

Totally agree .... Major bug bear is the sync with video ..... Completely off. I do hope this is fixed along with click delay on iPhone screen.

Nooooooooooo cannot travel with Galaxy note 7 on aeroplanes they explode apparently ! 4 Airlines have so far banned it from being used onboard including charging.

Hate the fact it's so small not sure which way is up. 50% of the time I get it wrong and then still have issues as I was right the first time but off Center. Ad nauseaum

AFF has an ability to 'multi-quote'. That is, you can select a number of posts to quote in the one reply.

At the bottom-right of each post is a symbol with a quotation mark and + sign:

llTmg7f.png

Click on that and a tick will appear:

When you have selected all the posts you wish to include in your reply, then click 'Reply With Quote' and all the posts selected will appear in the one message - ready for your input.

Using the multi-quote facility aids readability, and avoids any concern that a member may be 'post padding' to increase their post count.

I will miss the headphone jack... I use the standard headphones as a hands free when driving - my ears are oddly shaped so the ear piece always pop out and the cable means i don't loose them when they do. I would loose these new iPhone head phones on the first day!

The iPhone 7 comes with wired headphones. The wireless Airpods are a ~[-]$170[/-] $230 extra.

Seems I am a cereal (pun)offender so sorry about that. With the phone app its not so intuative once the replies are done on the app I am just not that savvy. l

The USB -c I mixed up with mini-USB plug which is the one that gives me the issues.

What is this phenomenon of post padding ? I would grealty appreciate explained (sorry OT)
What benefits arise from increasing your post count?

Using AFF on an ipad I find a bit of a pain when it comes to clicking through doing what you suggest. (and I often only post a reply then keep reading the thread and post another) I don't use the App.

However, if you have the time to put any of mine post together then please feel free, now I know you'll do it I've just been saved having to fiddle around doing it.

Yes, please advise what bonus awaits for 'post padding' or is a moderator sore point.

.

This reply has been done selecting multiple posts to reply to via the App. It's a matter of touching each of the posts you wish to reply to, which highlights them in yellow and then select the Quote button at the top.

None as far as I'm aware but there is a certain kudos that comes from having a massive post count on any big forum.

It's the various ways that people try to increase their post count.
This can be done in many different forms eg.replying in multiple brief posts to the same topic when one post could convey all of the information.
Resurrecting old threads with no new info and the same stock standard post.

Various other ways not all of them may be intentional by the poster but that's how it may look to others without adding anything of any value to the forum knowledge.

... and the easiest way is to reply to all the new AFFers with a "Welcome Aboard", etc. Not that this is used for the purpose of post-padding, but would give a massive post count over the years as a result.

Edit: Yes, a bit O/T, I know.

I find the apple earbuds very uncomfortable. The design doesn't sit well with me and seems to scratch my ears, so I don't use them. Am hoping to find a pair of plug type earphones that can work on the IP7 instead..

I have to agree totally - I have a couple of sets that sit unused, simply because they are waaaay too large for my ears and fall out! My Sennheiser's are superb, thankfully their smallest silicon earbuds fit perfectly. :D

Have actually seen some rather nice Bluetooth in-ear buds this week, as my headset for taking calls died recently. Definitely slick, and not as obtrusive as the ones Apple are touting as an ideal replacement for regular headphones.

This is a similar design but not the same type (lost the link grrr!!) Rowkinâ„¢ Mini - The World's Smallest Wireless Bluetooth Headset - I know it's for phone calls, but the design is superb!
Even these are much slicker than the Apple earbuds. ALTO Ultra Compact Bluetooth Earbuds Show off Balanced Audio and Charging Case | Gadgetsin

Guess I'll need to test out a few to see which ones suit my ears best, but at this stage, I'll not be changing my Sennheisers anytime soon.

my last OT post - Posting to AFF without adding value to the forum knowledge....wow, that's a big one, I've never seen that on AFF.:mrgreen:

I've added knowledge by pointing out what a big statement that one is and ponder if it is to be taken seriously. We all make informative posts and we all make a few one-liner funnies. If JessicaTam wants to post about extra posts to increase her post count then post away. :D

I've donned my flame suit already :p ;)

The time I will miss it is when using iDevice to play music through a PA system. We do that a lot for things like school performances (class groups performing at a fete or similar), for things like vocal warm-ups for musical theatre, and even for pre-show and intermission background music. I am not going to have Bluetooth audio connected to a PA system. That will be wired connection only and the 3.5mm stereo jack is the audio industry standard for personal device connection.

So always having a Lightning to 3.5mm socket will be important. Maybe I can get a Lightning to twin XLR cable for direct connection to a mixing console? Or time to invent a Lightning DI box that can accept stereo audio and provide phone charge via phantom power at the same time?

At home, its Bluetooth or Wifi control of Spotify to the Bose SoundTouch 30. Travelling I do use iPhone and iPad for both music and video in-flight entertainment through my Bose QC15 headphones.

My saving grace is that I will not be in the market for an iPhone 7 for a while.

Another OT post but..... as one of the AFFers who welcomes almost every new member that chooses to introduce themselves (and sometimes even if they don't  )
I am bewildered and saddened that such a simple act of common courtesy and politeness is treated with such contempt by some on here :-|

Am I really misunderstanding what the AFF community is about and going against its spirit by posting a welcome  :(

Steady you and everybody else who chooses to do so keep welcoming whoever whenever - I agree wholeheartedly with you that a bit of common courtesy goes a long way. you are not misunderstanding what AFF is about at all - caring and sharing is what it is about.

Steady, please keep welcoming people. My post is to defend your right to welcome people as I do without adding value.

I'm on your side it was a moderator who commented on people posting without adding value, not me.

Cheers

The mini-USB plug annoys me too.

<snip>
Essentially correct. There are a few sub forums where a minimum post count is required to contribute, such as referrals, or the free to goods home area where members ask for a minimum contribution.

There are also different member labels as the post count increases which are listed elsewhere so I won't them repeat here.

My posting rate has actually dropped since I became a mod.

Agree!

[mod hat] Jessica! Back on topic please. [/mod hat]

[member hat] Yes miss! [/member hat]

Re: The totally off-topic thread

Wickedly wet and cold in Adelaide.

Have updated iphone to 10 and it makes all these popping sounds instead of clicks.

Re: The totally off-topic thread

Are you happy with the upgrade?

I'm not sure. I dont like the way emails are displayed and it has done a massive change in the Photo Albums. You can delete some of the icrap apps but not all. Has allowed for apple pay with the credit card. It does make funny sounds. Waking up is different.
