Will you vaccinate with Conoravirus vaccine when one is available?

According to reports, coronavirus vaccine is entering its final phase of testing and very soon we will have millions of coronavirus vaccine to be rolled out, hopefully from September.

By then, should a coronavirus vaccine is available, will you vaccinate it?

Personally speaking, as a 30 year old young person, I will not vaccinate myself with Coronavirus, because:

1. It is just a small flu for young people, we won't die;
2. The vaccine is rushed and I cannot guarantee if I vaccinate myself, I will be immune to Coronavirus and not get killed by the vaccine;
3. The coronavirus vaccine is just a step to reopen our borders so that we can travel overseas again.

I am not anti-vaxier, however I only think that Coronavirus vaccine is just a political ticket for politicians to explain to the public that they can now open the international borders again and ease off travel bubbles.

I do think a contributing factor to their second wave could have been their lack of immigration controls from hotspots. Even if you let your own citizens do the herd immunity thing, if you introduce the unknown variable of occasional foreign risks then that can spike whatever is happening (or not) in your country.

Oh yes a Tinfoil hat can and will protect u from sun exposure but a Covid 19 vaccination wont protect you from anything, unless the Government says it will. Now where is that Tinfoil hat, Im going out side and do some gardening.

But all's well that ends well.It turns out that having a small dose first and a standard dose second appears to be more effective than 2 standard doses.

I have been vaccinated for many reasons in the past, including years ago yellow fever and more recently tetanus, but while I will probably get immunised when available in this case, it's concerning that the approval process is so rapid compared with the usual situation where it takes years.
The OP's concerns are well founded.

Penicillin was discovered by accident (just a few steps from where we had our student lectures at St Mary's Hospital Paddington)

The discovery of penicillin was accidental. My comment had nothing to do with the allergy stuff.

My father almost died from being given penicillin in the Navy for pneumonia so I fully appreciate anaphylactic reactions but as I said, and @andye commented earlier, that wasn't what I nor the article was referencing.

It is also comparable that despite the potential to cause significant side-effects, we still give it. It has saved many more lives than it has harmed

Where is the magic ?

I think it runs something along the lines of what we currently do with the flu vaccine. People are prepared to take some level of risk.

IIRC the current estimates for the moderna vaccine were pretty close to 100% reduction in severity even if it doesn't stop you getting it in the first place. So the chances of you dying are going to be greatly reduced. That's a level of risk many are willing to accept. And if people won't take the vaccine, and therefore choose to completely isolate or shield themselves, that becomes their choice to do so.

At the moment my parents are completely unprotected, which restricts the activities they can do. That will all be lifted once they've had the vaccine.
