Woolworths backflips - QF points are coming back

Quick off-topic question (probably answered elsewhere). I've just lost the wallet with my old mini (key-ring type) Woolworths card in it; if I cut down the new full-size one to just the bar-code will it still work?
Yes, you just need the barcode.

Thanks, Himeno; I was hoping that would be so, and not wanting to carry another full-size card in my wallet in the same colour as the ING Orange Everyday one.

To be honest, when the new scheme came into place I was upset about the removal of QFF points, but for me the new scheme seems better value.

I have only shopped at WW twice since the new scheme came in, spending $90 on each shop ($180 total). For this I have got $5 Woolworths Dollars back. I did not target my spending at all - in fact I didn't even look for the Woolworths offers, I simply bought what I needed. Had this been the old scheme I would have earned 60 QFF points per shop for a total of 120 QFF points. Instead I could potentially spend another $180 at WW for another $5 WD, meaning that if I then bought FF points I'd be getting 870 points instead of earning 240 points due to the amount spent in store.

Re: Woolworths reviewing partnership with Qantas Frequent Flyer.

No, that's incorrect. The operator tells you that you have $10 available. You then have to tell them to use it. They then do something to the screen and the $10 gets applied to the shop.

(for the second time)

Thanks, only just caught up on this split thread.
Spent just over $30 today and checked my online account - no WW$5 applied yet. This is after me activating the offer yesterday.
Are there any data points on how long it takes for an activated offer of WW dollars to be credited?
In the transaction it only has numbers for the "spent" and "saved" columns. The other two - "redeemed" and "earned" show nothing. :(

Nicely little offer of WWR$60 for $200 spend for the next 2 weeks. I guess Opal will be getting a top up after all.

How do you do that? Top up Opal at WW? :o

Opal is now excluded from targeted offers and many other offers at Woolworths.

Woolworths dollars should show up instantly on your account. You can only redeem in $10 amounts. Check your docket just in case you've bought one of the excluded items or services. There are lots of exclusions now compared with a few months ago.

Had a look at the T&Cs, says nothing about Opal being an exclusion (unless it is a "gift card")?
15.4 Eligible Shop means any transaction at a Participating Woolworths Group business in which you spend at least $10.00 excluding any Excluded Purchases.
15.5 Excluded Purchases means the excluded purchases specified in clause 4.2.1.7 of these Terms and Conditions.

4.2.1.7 Eligible Shop excludes the following purchases in respect of the various Participating Woolworths Group businesses as follows:
1. Woolworths supermarkets in store and online: Smoking/Tobacco products and accessories, Gift Cards, Cash Outs, Home Delivery Charges and Internet Cafes;

2. BWS stores: Smoking/Tobacco products and accessories, Cash Outs and Gift Cards.

Although it does say it may take 72 hours for any WW dollars to show up on your account.

I definitely did not buy any excluded items. All food.
That's best that I can find. Interested in where you saw that Opal top-ups are excluded?

I think however Opal is processed in the same way as gift cards - it certainly hasn't worked for me in the last few months

I know your question has been answered but I simply keep my rewards number in the contacts list on phone and get them to manually enter the number.

Theres also a fee app on the iPhone called StoCard

It allows you to store virtual cards from many loyalty schemes and it scans from the screen at the till.

Does it work? The Commbank app has similar function - but the barcodes never seem to work at the till..

It used to be that they would always have to manually type the number at the till. Since an app upgrade some time ago, it seems to scan 9 times out of 10.

Phone brightness is aparrently the culprit.

Check to see if you store does it.

Some do some don't

However I tried to get WWR $$ buy topping up Opal and it did not work. :-(

I do get FF pts though!

I will top up and get triple points!

Sure, I'll ask.
How do you get triple points?

Re: Woolworths backflips - QF points are coming back...Not as SOON AS YA WANT maybe.

For all interested rewardees :-)

Received forwarded internal email to Qantas staff today.

It stated from CEO of QF Loyalty Leslie Grant that...

The new Woolies rewards agreement will come into effect in the FIRST HALF of 2016...

so don't get too eager as of yet.

Also stated , as an interim agreement there will be special offers made to QFF loyalists in the meantime as a gap filler until final loyalty program is signed off and confirmed.

What the Qantas machine is basically saying is that The Woolies have recognised their monumental screwup and are knocking at the door, asking for "can I have some more, please Sir"

I'm figuring the interim offers may be enticing in order to keep us hooked until The 870 deal is closed and made available to the QFF Market.

Be interesting to see what the tide washes in , in the way of "we really want your money and data" loyalty enticements are from Woolies.

Anyways, that's what the horses mouth says internally in QFF

Thanks, Himeno; I was hoping that would be so, and not wanting to carry another full-size card in my wallet in the same colour as the ING Orange Everyday one.

I used an online EAN13 barcode generator to generate a replica of both my Flybuys and Woolies barcodes, one on each side then laminated it. Works a treat and it's much thinner than the regular cards too.

My $10 didn't show up after a $40 purchase even though I activated the offer more than 2 hours before. Called them up and got credited manually after providing receipt details.
