Woolworths backflips - QF points are coming back

No, that's incorrect. The operator tells you that you have $10 available. You then have to tell them to use it. They then do something to the screen and the $10 gets applied to the shop.

(for the second time)

We havent been asked, they have just applied the $10...

We've been asked every time. Still doesn't change that the operator has to manually apply the discount. It isn't automatic.

then there is the requirement to opt in for the points option anyway. That reads as an automatic process. So missing the (massive number) 870 points is only going to be an issue once.

Re: Woolworths reviewing partnership with Qantas Frequent Flyer.

I'm hoping that these offers help fill the gap from what I would have earnt in the old program and the new program.

Same for us, the one time it has happened.

($10 from targetted offer rather than actual orange ticket accrual).

which is different to redeeming from the accured balance. we've had 2 $15 targetted offers that were applied automatically on the qualifying shop. also had a $10 offer that added $10 to the WWRB. Then had the option to apply those $10 to the next shop, or not.

Re: Woolworths reviewing partnership with Qantas Frequent Flyer.

Still appears you have to earn Itchy and Scratchy money before you can convert to QFF points.

How come? What were you not able to do with your QFF points?
Use them?

To upgrade to business class one needs to purchase Flexi Saver. As an example SYD-HKG is ~AUD970 + 80,000 QFF points. The upgrade is not guaranteed. One can purchase return business class award for 120,000 QFF points + ~AUD350.

Doing the same thing for SYD-BKK is not so easy. Very difficult to find business class availability on the dates I want travel. Most times one can find economy availability but the taxes are almost the same as the economy airfare that earns SCs and QFF points.

I see no value in domestic upgrades. Total waste.

I would love to do some Oneworld awards with my wife. Looks like that will happen sooner rather than later but I haven't checked award availability since 2009 so there could be some stumbling blocks there.

I collect QFF points from travel. I don't need to purchase any points at ~1c/QFF point as that is the maximum they are worth to me.

I like the new Woolworths rewards offering cash discounts.

P.S. some of the posts in this thread are offensive.

In other words, you choose not to use your points.

That is different to not being able to use the points.

Having now seen both emails (with the same information) I am slightly happier with the direction. Reason being: for the past year I've mainly had shops under $30 daily instead of over $100 weekly like in the past. Thus, I've rarely got points this year, but with some adjustment to orange-ticketed items in my daily shopping I may start piling on the points again. I agree it's a mixed bag but for me things are looking up.

Which part of I cannot use the points for what I want to use them for is difficult to understand? I don't want to buy QFF points because they are difficult to use and not worth buying.

What you and others do is totally irrelevant to my experience.

The bit where you claim to be prevented from using the points. Awards are available. You can use your points for them. But you choose not to use the points.

I am really not sure what you are trying to prove.

I cannot use the points for what I want. It can't be any clearer. I don't care if there's award availabilty SYD-DXB or SYD-PER. I don't need to go to either.

Reminder: stay on topic. This thread is about earning Qantas points from Woolworths Dollars, not how you spend your Qantas points. Further off topic posts may be removed.

Nicely little offer of WWR$60 for $200 spend for the next 2 weeks. I guess Opal will be getting a top up after all.

I might be one of those people who push buttons in quick succession but that wasn't my experience last night - I simply got a message "you've saved $10 on this shop" with no back/cancel/nooooooooooo button. Regardless, looks like we will all be given the opportunity to earn that $10 back in pretty short order.

Must be getting desperate, I just got a woollies 'get $50 off your next two shops'.

What a crock.

I got emailed an offer to save $10 last week, $15 this week and $20 next week for spending $XX (nothing to do with points). Maybe you got the same offer?

The value of QFF points v Woolworths dollars is very random... $10 equals 870 points
