Woolworths gift card thread

Very impressive. What are you plans for all those cards?
Um, to spend them :)

Most will be gone within a week. Health insurance, car insurance, greenslip, rates, electricity bill, mobile phone bill, purchase of more eWISH cards etc.

But I'll save a few for an overseas trip I have coming up. I've used them before overseas with no problems. And they are a good 'just in case' back up form of money if other forms fail - which in my experiences happens more frequently than I would like.

So 100 took you 5hours in total. Activation time?

Nothing like that. Quicker today than yesterday, but problems still exist.

Someone on Ozbargain has gotten $20k worth yesterday.
I don't think that's a large number at all, especially if you have high cash flow and can spend them quickly. 5% discount is valuable to me. Especially as this looks like its on its last legs.

There's also the inception route, which is my preferred option. But with the time delays this is proving challenging.

If I can find enough cards I should hit inception around Sunday.

as I posted yesterday, my times were 3-4 mins for 2 cards, a 7-8 mins for 4 cards,
so 8 cards would be 15-20 mins based on other peoples comments,

so 100 would take 4-6 hours in theory,
if you did it much faster, thats awesome!

no issues for activating here.
both stores took mere seconds, nothing more than normal in the good old days of EGC V1s

yeah today and yesterday both.
staffed only.
I get redirected to staffed every time with these cards in hand

Me too. But I hide them at the bottom of the basket so they can't see them until it's time to pay :) Then if they say I need to go to a staffed checkout I go ballistic!

A couple of local stores have big signs on all self serve kiosks saying GCs cannot be purchased in self serve. If you try to purchase a GC there, the flag is raised and they tell you to go to a manned one.

ive been to heaps of self serves with signs like that,
never does it actually not work, it actually does work, however the staff/management have disallowed it for whatever reason,
and the staff have usually been trained not to allow it,

Never been a fan of signs :)

System wont reject the cards. Your battle will be with the staff. Which, for the most, part can be easily swayed.

Just back from local Woolies - lots of birthday V1s and nothing else - took 10 to checkout but they scanned at $105.95 - sigh.
Same as this orange one? Cause at my local it scans as $100
