Woolworths gift card thread

Was it the Ultimate gift cards that people previously had issues with?
No.

They look similar but it's this range that's historically had significant problems:

Never had a problem with the advertised range of cards.

I know the current promo earns 1k points per $50 kids voucher but anyone try purchasing a single $100 card for 2k points?
according to the fine print at the bottom of the page, the offer applies to "all denominations of Ultimate xyz gift cards excluding variable load"

but answering your question directly, no i haven't tried myself yet.

have my eyes set on a bunch of Ultimate Home as they can be also used at TGG in addition to JB

Right, I didn’t even bother reading the fine print as I assumed the promo only applied to the cards in the picture.

I spent ~$8500 off the top of my head earlier this year (mostly $50 cards) on an Alienware laptop for my brother and a couple other things and not only did it take ages to buy them at the Big W, it also took the lady behind the counter ages to process the transaction and the receipt they printed was never ending! She didn't seem too impressed but the guy that gathered all the items I wanted said I can pay with as many cards as I want. He gets the commission while the lady behind the desk does the hard work. Hope I don't get the same person again!

Haha, that's hilarious - as a matter of interest - how long did it actually take?

It took over half an hour. I went and got a coffee in the meantime. Took a while to scratch out the codes on the back as well. At least with these eftpos cards they don’t require a signature. I’ve used some of the prepaid visa1 cards and each transaction required a signature as there is no pin to enter. I’m going on a gift card shopping spree tomorrow and will be using some of them to grab the newly released MacBook Pro.

Good work. Did you bring a coffee back for the disgruntled employee?

No, now that I think about it i really should have. I’ll offer the next staff member that processes my transaction a Starbucks gift card.

It seems each transaction was on a different receipt, the MacBook Air receipt was taller than me and the Alienware one was just laughable.

Im not having too much luck so far with purchasing a new stack of cards. I got 9x $50 cards from townhall as that’s all they had. Off to the next store..

As I indicated earlier. It was always going to be a catalogue error. It's still listed online incorrectly incidentally (Woolworths Supermarket - Buy Groceries Online)

Still doesn't explain why I only got 6000 points though for 10 x VISA Only cards. I did buy some different to the picture. But the wording states '$100 Only VISA' NOT just the pictured card.

UPDATE: Online chat and customer care via the phone completely clueless. Claim that they cannot see the items in the catalogue even when I provided the direct URL. I even got 'that promotion is only available online and that's why you didn't get the points.' Despite it being impossible to buy those cards online!

So far 1.5 hours spent trying to fix Woolworths problems. I reiterate my advice not to buy.
1 online chat, 1 phone call and 3 emails later my missing 14,000 points have been awarded. In total I was awarded 20,000 points for 10 x $100 ONLY 1 VISA cards.

Hard work!
They must be worried about reputational damage from this. I had a call this afternoon from Woolworths apologising for this and saying that they've taken action to ensure that it doesn't occur again.

I was awarded the missing points quite a while ago and thought that that was the end of the matter, so was surprised by the call.

It's been a while since we have a 10% ebay gift card offer, is there a limit on how many Swap gift cards we can buy under this woolworths promo?

I hope Swap is better than the card network when it comes to ebay gift cards!

I think Ebay was last in June 2020. I still have stock from that offering.

No limit that I can see.

Issued by Blackhawk. So I have some confidence (this could of course be misplaced confidence :) ).

Time to buy one gift card to test on Wednesday before loading it up. Given it is a new type of gift cards, I hope it will keep ozbargain people at bay long enough to load up on the Swap ebay gift cards in time for black Friday.
