JB is a common usage for these cards.

I just noticed that Ultimate cards are now Visa, not eftpos and can be used online, with Webjet being a participating retailer. Is this change to Visa recent?

This occurred at least a few months ago. Make sure you get current livery to access this option.

Seems the same points value as the recent perfect gift cards offer. If you can get a $500 card that you are able to spend anywhere (birthday option?) I can see value here. Or may be these cards only come in $50 and $100?

Looks like the generic only1s are only available up to $100.
Rereading the small print suggests the activity-specific ones have no activation fee which might be worth the bother if you have something in mind (and means no need to get high denomination for value). I could also give Points Club balance a boost via Bunnings

I need some more Home Improvement cards so I am in, but can't say it is too exciting of a prospect.

Tempted to try buying them with my large stack of ultimate EFTPOS cards, if I can get away with it.

Yes, I have used the Home Improvement / DIY one extensively.

My review: not great, but okay. Suffers from the same issue all of these no purchase fee ones do, lack of ability to spend the entire balance leads to spillage, but with Bunnings I tend to get pretty close, my average is around 50c left on a card as I always search what I'm going to go get first and check if it will zero out (or close to it) any of my card balances.

The operation of the card in store really sucks - it is a visa card but with no PIN so you have to sign the back of the card and sign every time you use it. I've had people at Bunnings look at me wide eyed when I ask for a pen to sign... Imagine if I tried splitting a payment

Where these are great are online orders. You can use them seamlessly online for click and collect. I recommend this where possible. I've used them online and in store at Bunnings and Bowens without issue around acceptance, never had a decline to date.

Could you use the card to buy a bunnings gift card? That would avoid the residual problem.

Just bought myself a Bunnings eGift Card online with no issue, so I think it's fair to say these cards have just raised a few notches in quality - great thinking @Dr Ralph

And the great thing about Bunnings GCs is you never have a residual problem. If you have less than $10 left over on your card they just give you the balance in cash.

Just to clarify exactly what I've tested - you can buy one with no fee, get 5000 points and use it online to buy a Bunnings eGift voucher, but given it's based on the merchant code the only way I could see that you wouldn't be able to use it in-store to purchase a physical gift card would be if Bunnings staff refuse to let you - and frankly I don't think that they would care.

I haven't tried it, though, so just wanted to clarify what I actually know to work.

You don't need to buy a physical card in Bunnings.

1. Buy the egift card online.
2. Go into Bunnings and buy anything - pay with egift card.
3. Bunnings will give you change in physical gift cards with up to $9.95 in cash.
